If I get admitted to Imperial College London and UC Berkeley, which should I choose for Mech. Eng.?

-which school is/sounds more prestigious?
-which school is better for career prospects?
-etc…

If you are in state I vote for Berkeley - especially if you plan to work in the US.

My vote also goes to Berkeley, one of the best engineering schools in the country.

Thank you! Why is Cal better according to you? Is it also better for getting admitted to selective postgrad programs (e.g. at Harvard or Stanford)?
@my2caligirls I am an international student from Southern Europe. I do not know yet whether I’d rather work and live in the US or in Europe.

I know very little about imperial, but within the U.S there are very few colleges that are as attractive to employers as an engineering degree from Berkeley. It would also give you access to jobs in a booming area with plenty of engineering jobs for up and coming businesses.

Both would be great. Go where you want to be.

Imperial. The degree would be better recognized in Europe, and the career placement office would be better able to help you find work there.

It is not easy for international students to find permanent work in the US. In fact, it is extremely difficult. This assumes that you are successful at finding a job where you can work for the time permitted by the OPT visa extension, and then that you are successful at finding an employer that gets lucky with the H1B (work) visa process.

Can you afford either one (60k a year for UC Berkeley, 30k a year for Imperial cost of attendance) ?
I suppose this is a hypothetical since decisions have not been rendered yet.
