If I had low GPA/SAT scores but good AP Scores...?

As a rising senior, consider two different situations of mine (though I'm also asking this question because I know many are in similar situations). If you're lazy, just scroll down to the red text to answer my questions -

*I'm planning on possibly majoring in English in a top 20 school, like UCs and some LACs
SAT I Critical Reading: 660 (not horrible, but way lower than my math and slightly lower than my writing)
SAT II/Subject Test Literature: 670 (again, lower than US History, which I took in same sitting)

English teacher recommendation (LACs only, not UCs) - expecting to be great (I think)
AP English Language - 5
Class Grade: A+ first semester / A second semester

(I realize that English Literature is different from Language)

*On the other hand, I detest math
Class Grade for Calculus AB: B- first semester / B- second semester (the only B in my transcript junior year, though I had 3 Bs in sophomore year, one of them in math)

SAT I Math: I don't want to brag, but pretty decent score
AP Calculus AB - 5 (I was extremely, extremely surprised); because of this, I've decided to take AP Calculus BC next year. I hope I'll get an A this time.

This all having been said, how will adcoms view:
- My low (they are low for the colleges I'm considering) English SAT (I and II) scores vs. my high AP scores/class grade/recommendation, considering that I may major in English?
- My B- in Calculus AB vs. a 5 on the AP exam?

I've heard that AP scores don't matter at all during application, but are used to gauge grade inflation/validate grades. I wonder if the other way around is true. Sincere thanks for reading.
