If I had very little leadership Freshman and Sophomore Year...

...is it to late to get some? I know that colleges look down on people perceived as doing things only for college.

It's not too late. It also depends on your school. At mine, leadership positions are non-existent to freshman and sophomore students, with the exception of maybe one.

Um, I'd probably say that most people get leadership positions at grade 11 and 12...and they do fine.

I myself won't have any until junior year either, but not a problem.

please son, what do you expect?: "my name is jack dik freshman give me a leadership position mr. senior whos been in this club for the last 4 years!"

as was said before hardly anyone get leadership spots before junior year..you just have look around to see that

Well, that's a relief. I guess Junior Year is the year to get it done, then.

BTW, is GPA just calculated based on letter grades? i.e. if I have straight A's unweighted I have a 4.0?

Those that have "leadership" positions as Freshman, that actually do something are rare. Imagine being a senior and some little freshman comes in and wants to take over, after you have been in the club for three years.

Look at the clubs you are in yourself, would you hand over leadership to some freshman, while you are a Jr. i don't think so.

straight As means 4.0, but below that it varrys school to school (some schools count an A- as a 3.75 and some do it as a 3.5)

Getting leadership positions in your freshman/sophmore years? Lol'erskates. You're not supposed to get anything real until you've actually participated in the club. No one will vote for someone who is a freshman and suddenly runs for President.

LOL

but seriously...man do you expect someone to elect a freshman as president of a club or something?

I never got "elected" into positions. I aggressively lobby (which turned out well actually).

I could never imagine a freshman going up in front of the whole school and yelling: "The Time For Change Is Now! Vote for Me to your Most Prestigious Position Over the Head of all Former Officers and Experienced Contributers!!!"

Though that might look cute.
