If I take Calculus 1 at a community college, will I be ready for AP Calc BC?

<p>I'm a junior. I'm taking pre-calc at my school this year. My school offers AP Calc AB, but I am supposed to take it as a senior. It also has AP Calc BC for students who have taken AB already. </p>

<p>However, I'd like to get as strong a background in math as possible before going to college, so I want to take AP Calc BC before I graduate.</p>

<p>If I take a semester of Calculus I at our community college this summer, will I be ready for AP Calculus BC as a senior in the fall? (So basically, does AP Calc AB correspond to a single college semester of calculus?)</p>

<p>It depends on the Calculus I class. Some only cover differential calculus. That’s also covered in the BC curriculum, but it looks like your BC class expects you to have learned that already so it’ll be hard to catch up if this is the case. Check the Calculus I syllabus at your community college to be sure.</p>

<p>From my experience, AP Calc AB actually covers several concepts covered in college Calc ll. You should be more that ready if you know your stuff.</p>
