If I want to transfer to UNC after freshman year...

If I want to transfer into UNC after my freshman year, what should I focus on in order to successfully do it? I really regret not applying here (see my reason why in the dumbest reason why you didn't apply thread on the main page or by searching my name), and while watching the ACC game right now, I keep dwelling on how much I love this school.

Also, is it fairly easy to transfer from OOS (again, you can do a search on me for my stats)? I will definitely transfer in (unless I get into Cornell or UVA) if I want to do business, so is it significantly harder to transfer to kenan-flager compared to econ at this school?

thanks

You can transfer in after a year; after only a year, though, your high school record will still be weighed. Just do well, get involved, and maintain a high GPA.

I don't think it's difficult to get into the business school, and while anyone can choose to major in econ from the get-go (unlike the business school, where you apply as a sophomore to enter as a junior), I actually believe the econ major is much, much tougher (and tougher to do well in it). Econ is much more quantitative than the business school. My 2 cents.

well, I have pretty good stats for high school. It's just that my OOS status kind of screws me over. Here are my stats...nothing exceptional, but I would think I'd have a decent shot if I were instate:

Yes, it certainly doesn't look like your high school stats will hurt you at all, and since residency just not come into play as a transfer, it will be easier. Just do well in school your first year, too.

So you never applied at all this year?

nope...it was the dumbest decision I made in all of high school. I regret it even now.

Oh, well-- probably not the dumbest. ;) Things happen for a reason. Maybe you had good reasons, and you'll find out when you start school in the fall-- wherever you end up going.

I thought an applicant couldn't apply to Kenan-Flager unless you were a UNC student for all four years during undergrad?

A transfer student has to spend at least one semester in the College of Arts & Sciences before applying to Kenan-Flagler, I believe. A student cannot transfer directly into the business school from another school. You can transfer in, at most, 14 hours of credit to the business school, but you still have to spend time in the regular college, before applying for entry into the B-school.
