Currently, I am a freshman attempting to transfer from the University of Massachusetts. This school is not a good fit, and I cannot come back here next year. I've applied to several schools and am waiting to hear back-but because nursing is so competitive, I have suggested that if I do not get accepted to any of them, I can attend the local community college and apply again for the next semester.
My mom is less than amicable to this suggestion, called community college "loser college" and said she didn't care because she wouldn't be paying and I wouldn't be welcome home. Currently, I'm keeping up a 3.6-I don't think I'm a loser, just someone trying to take control of my own happiness.
I do not think I'll be welcome home if transferring doesn't work out, so does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do next year? Any gap year programs, places where cost of living is relatively low and I could potentially find a job and an apartment?
Thank you for your help!
