Do you have to do two semesters at your old school if you're transferring for next fall?

I'm currently a freshman at a small, liberal arts college. I chose my current school because of a program (healthcare administration) it had, and now that I'm in classes and have spoken to my advisor, it just doesn't seem to be a good fit for me. I was offered a sizable merit scholarship to go here, which definitely factored into my decision, but I really can't see myself at this school for four years. Socially, everything's fine, and I'm not homesick. I've always wanted to be a nurse, but my parents and high school advisors pushed me to go to a more "elite" school first and then pursue an advanced medical degree later. Now that I'm here, I really regret this decision. The cost, even with the scholarship, is still significant. I just want to transfer to a nursing program at an in-state program (Salem State University). I looked at the transfer deadline, which is February 1 for fall 2015 enrollment. I have a very strong high school record (97 GPA, AP classes, high class rank, etc), and I'm planning to throw myself into my schoolwork this semester. If I apply for fall enrollment (only option for nursing students), would I have to stay at my current school for the second semester? Cost is a concern for me, and there are few classes that I could take second semester for transfer credit. Would I be able to apply for the fall semester and take the spring before it off? Thanks for the advice and sorry for the wall of text :)
