Hi!
I'm currently a junior in high school and am in the middle of the college search process. I am second in my class and a competitive applicant to top schools. However, the more that I think about it, I think if my ultimate goal is med school, should i look into schools that I will be able to have the highest gpa possible? Of course it is a little disheartening because I have been working hard and don't want to end up at a mediocre school, especially if I get into a great school. So should I be looking into schools where I'll be a "big fish in a small pond" or "a little fish in a big pond"? Thanks!

I think for right now, just worry about college. I’m a senior and applied for the best schools in the state (got in too ;)) and I want to go there… Not because it’s easy to get a high GPA, but because it’s known as the better colleges.

Of course you’ll have to work hard at those top colleges, but that’s what med school will be (assuming we end up getting there), so I figure we better get used to it.

pre-meds are not the average students at the school so you really can’t judge whether you’ll get a higher GPA at a lower ranked school. Also, there is a lot more to your application than your GPA so what kinds of opportunities will the schools offer? Do you want peers who will challenge you?
