I really like the college system of Yale, but I doubt I have much chance. Can anyone tell of a school that is like it, but not so impossible to get into?

I heard Vanderbilt was built by the same people and feels a lot like Yale. Maybe Trinity?

Definitely try Rice. Rice has about ten residential colleges. The colleges have their own dining halls, public rooms, and dorms...Very similar to Yale.

Sounds great. But I though Rice was more cozy, more of a LAC. Nothing wrong with that though.

Rice is cozy...under 3000 students. You might also try Stanford, although it's nearly as selective as Yale. Northwestern, WUStL, Vanderbilt, and UVA have similar residential colleges, although they're not as advertised as Yale's. There's probably more...

Notre Dame has dorms which are a bit of a misnomer and act as residential colleges.

The kids aren't that smart at ND, based on median SAT, however. But I appreciate the info. Brains aren't everything.

so wait, you think sat scores identify how SMART you are?

Are you really in Mensa.

What I meant was book smart, not really what's important,

I really am basing my statements on conjecture, on the people I know who went to ND, who were just average I'd say, but they may not be typical at all. So you are right to say it's not that fair.

Celebrian, if the median SAT score of one institution is 100 above the median score of another, what would that tell you? I'm not asking rhetorically, I'd like to know what you think that difference means.

Statistically, it's very significant for a whole class, but individuals bounce around 50 pointsfrom test to test, so 100 points between two people means a lot less than a who;e school.

I agree whole-heartedly...
