If one's 1st choice is to apply to Peabody school, but would certainly go to A&S if couldn't into Peabody, is it smart to apply to both? Does this make sense? Is that looked at favorably or not? Thanks for responding.

So you're saying that you would otherwise only apply to Peabody? Why would you not give yourself a second chance if you get turned down from Peabody?

It doesn't make sense. Wouldn't going to a different school within the college entail changing your prospective major? Why would you change your major based on what school you can get into?

I think applying to separate schools only makes sense if you're planning on double majoring. I'm applying to Blair and arts and sciences, but only because I would consider a double major.

I guess it would make sense if it's easy to transfer between schools at Vanderbilt.

It's not hard at all to tranfer between schools, except maybe into Blair. It's seriously only minimally harder to get into A&S and Engineering than it is to get into Peabody. Basically, that means if you turned down for your first choice, more than likely you'll be turned down for your second choice as well.
