If rejected from BHP

If I applied into BHP and got rejected, will I still be considered for normal undecided application or the mccombs business school? I know that it is extremely hard to get into, so would I have higher chances of getting in undecided or to the business school as a normal student then transferring into BHP?

If you’re denied BHP, you will be considered for McCombs–you are going to list it as your first choice major. If you are denied McCombs, you will be considered for your second choice major (if it is in a College other than Business, e.g., Liberal Arts). If you are denied second choice, you will be considered for undeclared in College of Undergraduate Studies (unless you’re an auto-admit, in which case you’ll be assigned UGS, or you’re an international applicant, in which case you are ineligible for round three UGS).

When you complete your ApplyTexas app to UT and hit “submit,” the honors app will be available to you within 24 hours. Send it in by Oct. 15 to insure “priority” reading.

The McCombs web site details what BHP is looking for and explains exactly how they read your app and what happens if you’re not admitted to BHP: [BHP Freshman Admissions | McCombs School of Business | The University of Texas at Austin](Admissions | Canfield Business Honors Program | McCombs School of Business)

See the link in the left nav menu to learn about Sophomore Admissions to BHP. There is an embedded link in that section that will take you to the requirements for internal transfer to McCombs from any other UT College. You will note they say, “The process is competitive. It is not recommended that students enroll in another college at UT Austin on the assumption that they will transfer into the McCombs School of Business.”

Good luck. Hook 'em!

Great response TXArtemis. The only thing I would add to that is that the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Natural Sciences are open colleges, so if you gain admission to UT, you may join either of those colleges without further qualification.
