Which do you think would it be? Which college do you think has the location, reputation, endowment, selectivity, and sports to qualify as an Ivy?

That depends. Which school would we like to see play each Ivy League school in football, basketball, and other sports at least once every year?

Because that is the only consideration. The Ivy League is a sports conference. That is all.

Obviously ITT Tech.

They offer hands-on training and have flexible class hours.

I don’t think there are any colleges that fit with the Ivies in ALL of those factors.

National American University!

♪ One day, one night Saturday’s all right!online’s just fine. night time. any time. get your degree. set yourself free. national. american. university.!!!

It’s also accredited hours are just as flexible! You can even go there on Saturdays How much more could ya ask for?

This is actually an interesting question, given the ongoing realignment of the big football conferences this spring.

I think that adding Military Academies-Army and Navy-would be a reasonable fit, in part because any school you add would have to agree to the Ivy League requirement of no athletic scholarships. The geography would not be out of the question, either.

It’s a toss up between ITT Tech and University of Phoenix.

edit: I forgot about Kaplan College, it’s at a steady 3rd place.

Devry University or ITT Tech.

the problem is the sports part makes this tough, since most d1 schools either are to competive athletically or not up to par academically. but i would say one of the patriot league schools, maybe colgate. their endowment is much smaller than most of the ivy league, but they fit the bill better than most other schools.

^ All of the Ivies have beast lacrosse programs, though. So in that sense, I’d say that Georgetown or Johns Hopkins fits the bill.

^In everything but Basketball, Georgetown looks like the sensible pick.

Let me guess. In case you don’t make an Ivy, you’ll apply to whichever school gets the most votes in your straw poll here on CC. Then at parties you can say that “I didn’t make Ivy, but I got first alternate”.

Georgetown basketball is a really good program. Maybe comparable to that of Cornell’s.

^Is that a joke? Georgetown is so much better than Cornell since ever. Are you basing it off of one season?

I think Georgetown makes the most sense.

I think my tour guide there may have said that it was invited to be in the Ivy League once. However, even if he did say it, I know some tour guides elsewhere who make stuff up for fun.

Isn’t Stanford division I as well? That’d be my pick.

^Yeah but Stanford is better than the Ivy League in most sports AND they’re on the West Coast, so your pick makes no sense at all.

It would have to be the University of Chicago or MIT - both from a prestige standpoint and an athletics standpoint

Deep Springs College. ;)

stanford may have the best sports program in the country actually. sports illustrated said it was them or texas, i cant remember. they’ve won every directors cup i think.

"Georgetown basketball is a really good program. Maybe comparable to that of Cornell’s. "
ha, georgetown didnt have the best year in 09-10, and cornell had their best ever and georgetown was still better prob.
