I’m currently a senior in high school. My class will be the first to apply to college using the new SAT. I have only taken that SAT. There’s something that’s troubling me though. How can colleges advertise the “average range” of SAT scores for their incoming classes, if they don’t actually have any of that data yet? I know that there is a score conversion tool out there for old to new SAT, but even the creators of said tool say that it isn’t 100% accurate. It’s like comparing apples to oranges, since the new test is supposed to be completely revamped. Are colleges just posting scores that they’d like to see? Am I misunderstanding this entirely?
The test started in March of 2016, didn’t it? Not quite “brand new” anymore. But yes, closely examine where they say the info comes from.
It’s now Sep 2016. Since the Oct 2015 PSAT and multiple subsequent SAT sittings, the College Board has had a year’s worth of new test scores to concord with the old test scores.
