Should I really take the current (2400) SAT?

I have taken both the old and new PSATs and performed far, far better on the new PSAT. I have not studied much at all for the current SAT, and I only have two weeks or so now, and as such I doubt I’d be able to achieve a satisfactory score. The New SAT seems better for me and I actually have time to prepare for it- why is everyone so concerned about being guinea pigs for the college board- isn’t it all a matter of percentiles in the end of the day anyway? I have studied for the ACT, and that is more similar to the new SAT as well. If I take the current SAT and do poorly on it, can I keep these scores to myself? What difference will there be in admissions submitting the current SAT versus the new SAT? Currently I am thinking, “why not?” on taking the current SAT, though I am concerned the next few weeks could overload my school schedule all for a score I most likely wont end up submitting, and I am wondering if these scores are kept to myself if they are in fact subpar. Will colleges know you took both the current & new SAT? Suppose I send in my new SAT scores- will they ask/require me to send in the current SAT scores as well? Are any colleges requiring the current SAT for the class of 2017?

Yes you can keep the scores to yourself but ONLY if you opt out of the student search services. Also, if you list your current high school then your counselor will get your score. So if you want complete privacy - don’t opt in and don’t list your high school. But I don’t think a counselor getting your scores is a big deal because they are supposed to keep that confidential.

The problem with privacy is that if you opt into the student search services they will provide emails to colleges who request them. Thus, colleges will know you sat for the exam, they will also know your score range (not your score but colleges can request scores above a specific number), your address, your name, your email address.
