I’ve had a lot of people tell me that the September ACT, especially the math section, was really hard. Does that mean that the October ACT will be easier? Just wondering because I’m taking it in October and praying that it won’t be as hard as September
No.
The ACT is a standardized test, so no.
Even if it was “easier”, there would be a much harsher curve than usual.
Can you kindly tell me about the new essay prompt, I’m pretty nervous, as I’m taking this oct, just briefly. Totally gonna appreciate it.
ACT has a large body of tests which it does use over and over as the years pass. There is no pattern to the repeated use, e.g., a test given in June five years ago may have been the one given in Sep of this year, while the one in Oct may be a Feb test from four years ago. Though there are some tests which are a little more difficult than others, the fact that one of those may have been given in Sep does not mean a somewhat easier one might show up in Oct. Also, that a test is somewhat easier does not really change the resulting scores, e.g., on one test you may be able to miss 7 math answers and still get a 30 in the math section while on others you may only be able to miss 6 to assure a 30. Moreover, the score you will get on the 36 scale based on the particular number correct is actually determined before you take the test. You are thus not being compared with test takers that are taking the test the same time as you but instead to test takers from years past.
@scastevin http://www.actstudent.org/writing/sample/ That’s the link to a sample ACT writing prompt. I think there are also some essay examples on that page.
