If they offered me a scholarship, does that meant I'm in? (University of Cincinnati)

I applied to the Design Art Architecture and Planning College (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati (recently ranked #2 in the nation for architecture only behind Harvard). They haven't sent me an acceptance or rejection letter yet (they said they would all be sent out by December 31) however, UC itself sent me an invitation to the Cincinnatus Scholarship competition. The competition guarantees a minimum of $2,000 a year, and offers up to a full ride depending how well you do at the competition. So, what does this mean for me? Do you think I will be accepted into DAAP if they've offered me this scholarship?

Did you check your status on line? My son checked his status on line and it indicated he was accepted . This was about one week before he received the acceptance letter.

He is waiting to hear if he gets an invitation to the Cincinnatus Scholarship competition.

I have been accepted into the architecture program at DAAP, but am still waiting for a Cincinnatus Scholarship invitation too... I hope its going to come. I am getting worried.

Best of luck to all of you!

I'm sorry to say that it doesn't mean you're in to DAAP. My daughter was invited to sit for that scholarship when she applied for Musical Theatre 3 years ago. She was admitted to the University, but was never accepted to CCM.
So it's not the sign you were hoping for, but it's an achievement you should be proud of none the less. And it certainly does not mean you wont get in. Best of luck!

In addition to checking the CHECK MY STATUS link, have you tried checking the CONFIRM ADMISSION link? If you're accepted, the acceptance should show up in at least one of those areas. Good luck.

groupiegurl143, when my son applied to DAAP 3 years ago, his Cincinnatus invitation arrived a couple weeks before his acceptance letter to the architecture program. If your status isn't online by January 5th, call the Admissions Dept. or DAAP Architecture Program Office.

socopostal, my son heard that the eligibility criteria for Cincinnatus Scholarships got more stringent this year, exceeding the criteria for admission to DAAP's architecture program. He thought that all newly-admitted DAAP architecture students used to be invited to compete for these scholarships, but isn't sure that it'll be the case this year. If you don't hear by year-end, I suggest you contact the Cincinnatus office.

Wishing both of you the best of luck! The DAAP architecture program is tough, but its students are very well prepared. The Cincinnatus Scholarship funding is a big help, especially since the DAAP workload makes it difficult to work while you're in school. Plus, it's a good chance to meet other students in your program before Orientation. Some students select their roommates while they're there.

Mom of 2

Sometimes the admission staff do make mistakes and do not send you the complete material. This happened to me when I applied for Stanford. I never got anything back, and then I started getting invitations to orientations etc. Turned out that they forgot to send me the acceptance letter.

Something worse happened to my friend. She got an acceptance letter from her #1 choice, and then got a short apology email about a week later. Apparently, the spelling of her name was very similar to another girl that they actually accepted, and so they had sent her the acceptance letter by mistake. Poor girl was celebrating and all and it was like a big slap on her face.

Well DAAP says the acceptance letter would be sent by December 31st. It's December 27th and still hasn't come. Tomorrow is Sunday so it won't come then either. So that gives them 3 days. Ugh! The suspense is killing me. Two other colleges have offered me nice scholarships, but UC is the only school I can attend and stay with my boyfriend.

Just to update everyone who has commented.. I did end up getting an invitation to the Cincinnatus. Thanks for the good luck wishes :)

I am in the same boat.Going to cincinnatus this weekend and have not heard from DAAP or SAID or even UC about my admission. Checked the status and it says blabla we are still deciding. Called admissions and they said hang in there it takes a while..how long are we to wait without hearing?? Let me know if you hear anything and I will do the same for you. very frustrated. G

When did you get accepted into SAID? Are there others out there who have heard? How many still waiting???

I hope you will have heard by now, but I just thought I'd add that I got a letter inviting me to Cincinnatus and a packet inviting me to apply for the Honors Program, but I was rejected from DAAP. I got into a B.S. in Architectural Science or something, but I decided that I won't be going. You'll definitely get into UC if you're getting the Cincinnatus letter, but you may not get into DAAP. It's far more competitive.

I did get into DAAP/SAID and accepted my admittance

Congrats! .
