If this is you, would you pay?

^ Checks are evidently very serious business.
Look at the anger and fury it’s brought out. Everybody must know the truth about checks.

Haha. The pixels are quite pointy today. I wonder what the Great Money Order Debate brings.
And let’s not forget cash on delivery.

Many lives were lost during the money order debate.

I bet the OP hates us.

I’m not sure why you keep on bringing up a point that I only brought up once and then let drop, that point being the whole “not having checks = not having a checking account” thing. You must enjoy beating a dead horse. The reason I made my original comment about not understanding how he’d pay his bills online without a checking account was because it seemed to logically follow that if you have a checking account you have checks, therefore the claim that he doesn’t have checks would imply that you figured he didn’t have a checking account itself.

But then you made it very very clear that you simply meant that he didn’t have any checks on him. In fact, you continue to make it very very clear for no reason at all. It’s like no matter what I post you just figure you can trump it all by saying that you’re not saying he doesn’t have a checking account, which after my very first post on the “checks” matter I never claimed that he didn’t. Instead I moved on to saying that he should have checks on him for various reasons and that if nothing else this would be a lesson that he should. But then I even talk about how he never said he couldn’t pay for it and that his issue was with the customer service, which now that he elaborated on I think is a very valid complaint.

So I’m pretty sure your reading comprehension could use a little work. Or maybe the issue is that, like you said, you didn’t actually read my entire post. So I can’t blame you for being misinformed when you willfully stay ignorant.

Oh, and by the way, the chemistry exam went fine. I’m fully expecting an A- minimum. Turns out that the likely scenario is that the rest of the class cheats their ass off on the quizzes which are significantly harder than the exam itself.

And no, it doesn’t. When I say “less common” I mean less common as the default form of payment. The actual status of having checks around the house I wouldn’t actually assume is any less common today than it was a decade ago, and if it is then this would be a perfect reason why it shouldn’t be.

Oh, I’m sorry, you must have misinterpreted me. When I said you were acting like an ******* I was merely making an observation. Didn’t mean to be offensive. And I’m not getting heated at all, I don’t really care much whether he returns the book. I was merely reciprocating your tone. If you jump to conclusions like that then I don’t know, maybe the internet is not for you…it’ll lead to a whole lot of misconceptions.

See above, especially the part about beating a dead horse and reading comprehension.

I’m not going to pretend I read any of that. I’m sorry you’ve wasted your pixels…and time.

I’ve tried several times to bring this back on topic.

And here’s Attempt 4:
So back to the OP’s conundrum…

So back to the OP’s conundrum…

[/quote]

as irritating as it is to call before 12pm, you might have to just sacrifice a few minutes and do it, especially if they’re being unresponsive. It sounds like you’re both unsatisfied with the company AND the product. I don’t know their policy but it sounds like you’re entitled to a refund.

I paid my landlord (well actually subletter) with PayPal.

Well, obviously you did read some of it or you wouldn’t be able to confidently say I’ve wasted my pixels and time. Plus, it’s not a waste because I post because I feel like it, not because I get fulfillment out of you reading my posts. Besides, it’s unfair for you to say, “No, you’re an idiot and I’m right. Now let’s start talking about the OP again so that I don’t have to listen you tell me I’m wrong.”

Note that if history is any trend you won’t have gotten to this line because you’ll have just assumed it’s a post full of arguments you don’t want to hear and you’ll miss the glowingly constructive stuff I’m about to say.

So, OP, as I’ve said a couple of times it really does sound like their customer service is pretty bad if they won’t reply to your e-mails and they sell things everywhere in the U.S. yet you have to call before 12pm in your time zone. That’s pretty ridiculous.

If you’re worried about your views (they charged you $97 for something you can’t even keep for forever? That’s also ridiculous) you can always just take a screen shot of every page or find some other way to save the thing. I dunno, maybe that’d violate copyright laws or something but it’s what I’d do.

Out of curiosity, what publisher is this? I’d like to keep them in mind so that I avoid them if I ever come across them.

Seeing your post doesn’t mean it was actually read.

Obviously if somebody comes on this page, they’ll see all posts, that doesn’t mean they actually read anything.

If somebody has openly said they’re not reading your posts, why waste your time continuously baiting them?

You really should consider getting over your wounded ego and dropping this as, it seems, everyone else in here has.

I think somebody mentioned paypal on here, I wonder why that company won’t let him just pay with that. It’s quicker than waiting on the mail to arrive and convenient.

Because the publisher has an ulterior motive and is trying to scam him off.

Don’t pay.

You agreed to pay online. Refuse any other modes of payments.

Judging from what the OP has posted about the company, they’d probably get upset about the PayPal fee; they seem disagreeable enough to make a fit about that tiny fee.

Even if they did take credit card, I’d still ask to return the book. $91 to rent an ebook is preposterous.

^ This just made me think of those readers Amazon makes called “Kindle.”
My brother just bought one. It’s kind of big (tall i mean) and really thin, it looks like it’ll snap in half any minute and the text is kind of faint so you have to strain to read it, plus I heard reading for a long time on a screen is straining on your eyes already, and $400 too without including the books you have to buy for it.

I don’t think I’d want to have to charge my books. It’s bad enough I constantly forget to recharge my laptop and Creative Zen and it dies on me in the middle of the day. Besides $500 is too much for that.

My point was, how does he know I wasted my pixels and time if he didn’t read the post? How did he know that I wasn’t being amazingly constructive, or offering some unique insight? Did he just assume based on the fact that my posts annoy him?

And I explained in my post why I keep posting. I’m not trying to bait anyone. I’m not trying to coax people into an argument. I read comments on a thread (like yours) and then I feel like responding them, so I do. Obviously when I quote you I’m directing my post at you, but I really don’t care whether or not you read it. I lose no sleep over wondering whether or not people read what I post on the internet.

And wounded ego? Evidence? I love how your comments seem to predictably decay into, “And here I’ll throw out an insult even though it adds nothing to the conversation.” Maybe it’s because you’ve run out of productive things to say but feel the need to still rant. Or maybe it’s because you think people will consider you witty. Or maybe it’s none of those things and you actually have a really legitimate reason for doing it.

Oh wait, my bad. You don’t insult, you just make observations.

And I really don’t understand why you don’t follow your own advice and just drop it. Clearly you want the last word just as much as I do. I don’t just run around making haphazard posts beating a dead horse, I only respond to what YOU (and others) bring up. So if you stopped quoting me and bringing up more things for me to contest, then I would stop bringing up the issue too. Remember, it takes two to argue.

And clearly you can find nothing but fault with me even though I purposefully made sure I added something to the conversation each time, especially with my most recent post. I’ll quote it for you just for good measure:

EDIT:

Yeah, I think the Kindle is a waste. I don’t know anyone who bought one and then was really happy with their purchase. That said, it’s apparently designed in such a way that it doesn’t strain your eyes.

I think he paid just over $400 for his, which is still a lot. Plus if you look at the Amazon reviews for the Kindle (he got the DX version which is the newest) there are a lot of negative reviews about it. The screen cracked the third day he got it because he dropped it.
BUT He was sitting on the floor when he dropped it so it could not have fallen more than a foot and there’s this huge spider crack right on the screen. It still works and he did spend a pretty penny on it so I guess he uses it as is. I think he spoke Amazon but they refused to exchange because it was “his fault.”

I had to look up what a creative zen was, it looks better than the iPod. Is it?

I saw the reviews for Kindle. Kindle seems like a (bad) attempt to reinvent the wheel. Books were fine as they were, and if they are going to re-do how books are used, at least do it correctly. It seems like most people dislike Kindle for a multitude of reasons.

In my opinion, Creative > iPod.
They just do it better.

I think I just made this situation worse. My friend told me, I will be reported to the credit bureau… I hope not. I hope $91 won’t ruin my life…

So, I finally have the morning free, yesterday, and I was able to call them. I told them I have increase the limit of my shopsafe and that they can charge me. That was 8am. The customer representative said, that they have charge me, but I have to wait 2 days. So, I thought everything is fine then.

After the call, I check my email. I was suprise to recieve a message at 9: 51 am, it was reply to my earlier request around Sept. 12 to cancel the order. It says, if I still want to cancel, then I can just send them my username. So, I replied and said, YES PLEASE cancel, and here is my username blah blah…I sent the reply at night. Not only that I actually close that account. So, they cannot charge me at all.

Can, anyone please tell me, if I did something wrong?

I am worried. It has been a month, the issue has not been resolved.

I just would never deal with them again.
