Are we not getting a scholarship?
I have been "being reviewed by the committee since the 23rd" but...

I believe there is a second wave for the Presidential and Trustees. After that if we don't get it then we still have a chance to get Deans

I sure hope so...... but it seems like an awful lot of people have gotten accepted already. :(

Don't lose hope!! My letter arrived TODAY during noon and I thought that I wasn't going to receive it since so many people did already. I'm sure they're still sending letters out...I live in Southern California too, by the way. =]

epicyclical - what was the date on your letter? Does it say Jan 26th?

epicyclical- Did your status change to "a decision has been made..." before you got your letter?

D just received acceptance letter today. it is dated on Jan. 31. We live in S Ca

^ Looks like this is the second wave. So I expect there will be more acceptances received in the mail tomorrow. 1st and 2nd waves seem to be a week apart, since the first were dated 25th for congratulary/scholarship notification letter and 23rd for acceptance of major notification. (am assuming others were same as my D's)
Good luck everyone!

I`m slightly confused.. what do you mean about the 2 separate letters? My major notification (PR at Annenberg) came in the same package as my acceptance letter.

D received acceptance letter today, it is also dated on January, 31. Ecstatic! She is going to college.

^ KHans: The package my D received contained the letter (dated 25th), the brochure on Explore USC, as well as a paper (not a letter but just a notification) that said she was accepted into the major she chose as first choice - just like you got - this was dated 23rd.
So no, not two letters separately, but all in the same envelope. It was curious since the acceptance into major was dated before the actual acceptance/congratulary letter.

i'm scared...i've been in preliminary review since 1/2...is this bad? i live in virginia...is this why I haven't received a decision yet? and can somebody PLEASE explain this "wave" business to me! thanks

^ ppl who received letters dated Jan 31st, did ur status page change!?

^ The wave thing just means that USC notifies of acceptances in batches
(from end Jan to end March, with the rejections last in April) rather than on one particular date. There's still a lot of time, so don't worry.

thanks for clarifying...but if the 1st batch has already been sent...does that mean I have no chance for a presidential or trustee scholarship?

We have completed a preliminary review of your application. We sometimes request additional information (senior-year grades, for example), so be sure to watch the mail. You may submit senior year grades at www.usc.edu/MDYResponse, even if we did not specifically request them. We are continuing to review applications and expect to mail notification of a decision by April 1st.

On the day few people posted that they got accepted, I checked my mailbox, and received something from USC. I was gonna go crazy, but it was too small. When I opened it up, it said that I am missing a financial statment even if the online check thing have showed the message above since jan 4th. A little bit upset, but I sent in my finanical statement (even if they told me a month ago that I do not need one) asap. Hoping to hear back soon.

^southernazn: Not necessarily. Acceptances which include eligibilty for the two main scholarships could be received in the first couple of weeks of Feb (at least according to last year's timing).

I just submitted my mid-year report online today. Perhaps things might happen within the next week seeing that "wave two" is out.

quixotic...are u saying that wave two letters have already been mailed out?

No, it's just speculation given that people have reported that they've received letters dated the 31st.
