If we turn down a college

Do we still need to go in and turn down the financial aid awards (or in our case loans) or is that automatic, when you turn down the college? Thanks

It would be courtesy to do so, but it is not necessary. If your child was accepted to any special programs, they may not get the memo and should be contacted directly.

If your package was only loans, then I don’t think it is necessary at all. You just simply don’t accept the loans.

LOL - I just went in to turn down the aid at one of the colleges we’re rejecting, and you can’t accept or turn it down until you’ve paid your deposit. I guess I got my answer. Thanks!
