Do the 1st nine weeks of the school year for a senior count for ED applicants?

All of the students I’ve known who have applied ED (including my kid) were asked to submit first quarter grades if their high schools issued them. Then, even if accepted, you have to submit a “mid-year report” with semester grades, and one more time at the end of senior year.

^Yes

It’s a bit difficult because usually (at least in my case) I cannot raise my grades up to all As until RIGHT before the semester, when it actually counts, because there are too few assignments before that…so be careful! :)

Some colleges look at Senior grades very carefully, and most colleges look to see that you have held all promises for your second semester as well. In other words, if you flunk out second semester, that gives colleges a reason to deny you admission.

so as long as you don’t get C’s and D’s, you should be fine yeh?

Some colleges expressly require ED applicants to send 1Q grades (Duke, I think is one), while others will call high schools to ask for these grades for some but not all applicants (Cornell does this). If your 1Q grades are good, you should make sure to send them off to your ED school.
