So I understand that EDs do check your first quarter grades. However I am confused about how everything is weighted. Is it as valid as the semester grades on my transcript and they’ll roll it into my GPA, or is it to check if I have “Senioritis”. I’m asking because I usually get straight A’s, but this quarter has been really challenging for me with all the IB requirements and college applications, so I now I have 3 Bs and 3 As. How much will it hurt me if these grades are on my quarter report?
How exactly would your ED college find out your first quarter grades if they aren’t on your transcript?
My guidance counselor told me they usually ask them early December.
Not for ED, but one of the schools my daughter applied to last year required quarter grades. Her counselor uploaded her first quarter report card.
Most ED schools have a form where they request 1Q grades. It is handled directly between the school and the guidance counselor so you may not even know it is taking place.
If so, how much do you think colleges will consider them? Like I said previously, I have struggled a lot this quarter but my Sophomore and Junior grades are stellar.
Colleges want info to feel confident. They certainly can ask. And if they do and discover you’re not doing great – can certainly choose to defer or reject you. It’s definitely a possibility.
