If I never receive education in US until freshman year, is the transcript for my original school in China helpful?
Screwed up?? That’s not bad at all! I watched the TAMS live stream and they said to shoot for a 1250. You are in great shape! Plus, that’s not the only thing they look at so don’t worry. (sorry this reply is a bit late)
i just wanted to flex real quick and let the people know I GOT INVITED TO AN INTERVIEW!!!
who else did? i honestly didn’t think i’d get there because i’ve been reading your people’s chance me posts and you’re all in all AP classes and president of 17 clubs. i’m an average sophomore in algebra 2 instead of hecking pre-calculus.
I was hoping for a 1500+ on the SAT like my practice tests, but yes I got the interview! A few of my friends did, including one genius who is going straight to Stanford (this is no exaggeration. I would bet money on his acceptance). Luckily for the rest of us, he doesn’t want to give away his valedictorian spot. My Software development club got to 20 members which is cool. You guys are all applying early decision right?
yeah, the regular decision is in march or something
does anyone know what the interview is like?
@iloveanime123
Breakdown of the interview:
First everyone gathers in the auditorium place and we listen to a welcome speech by the dean. Everyone has an ID badge with their name, a group number and a session number. Anyway, each group has 5 people each and for Early Decision Interview Day there were 34 groups so 170 people in total. You file out when your group is called and go to this other building, and that’s where you take your algebra tests (which are exactly the same as the practice tests on the TAMS website except with different numbers). Everyone gets 1 hr 20 min to complete the tests, then everyone goes back to the auditorium place and listens to another person who talks about research and early summer research opportunities (this probably won’t happen for Regular Decision Interview Day because only Early Decision candidates are allowed to apply for one of the limited spots for early summer research). Then everyone leaves and we get an hour for lunch.
Once lunch is over, it’s early in the afternoon, so you’re basically halfway through. Now comes the real part of Interview Day… that’s right, the interviews!! So basically everyone has to meet up in the library and just chill until it’s time to go back to the very first room. There, if you’re session A (meaning on your ID badge it says “session a”) then you will have either the formal or informal first (they probably change it up but for early decision session a was the formal). The formal interview groups leave one by one and go to secluded mini lecture hall type rooms, where the interview is conducted, whereas the informal interview groups stay in the room and do the group challenges part of the interview (which, aside from lunch, I counted as the fun part of the day!).
Yeah that’s basically it! Hope that helps.
Edit: correct me if I am wrong in any part
Early decision results come out this Saturday! I don’t know whether to be extremely nervous or extremely excited. The good news is, I talked to some head of admissions during that day, and they said the early decision pool is usually stronger in terms of grades and stuff, so if you don’t get in on Saturday, you still have a shot of getting in regular decision. The problem is I really don’t want to wait until May to find out about their decision.
omg they sent it out early.
Yep I saw! Anyone else here get in?
I got in
me!
I Got In. i’m blessed
I got in too! Ayyy fellow class of 2021 buds!
Hi there. I applied early decision and got waitlisted. Has anyone been accepted?
What’s the wait time to possibly be accepted if waitlisted?
Congrats to all who got in early decision. You are all amazing!
U still have a decent chance of getting in. Don’t give up cuz some people do not decide to go due to high ranks and stuff. Also u should send a letter of continued interest to them to make sure they know u r still committed and also to update ur file with grades and achievements
Thank you @ weirdshark. I will do so. I just can’t wait till May to find out. Hoping to hear within 3 weeks.
got in!
