If you can't visit the school due to distance...

What steps would you take to get a feel of the school/campus before committing to the school?

Read the student newspapers, which are generally on-line, to see what students are most concerned about/interested in.

I think that some schools even have visit reports from parents or students on this very website!

Order the Collegiate Choice Walking Tour video (DVD).

[Collegiate Choice Walking Tours Videos - college videos, campus tours, virtual college tours, college planning,](http://www.collegiatechoice.com/)

many schools have free virtual walking tours on their websites or you can ask to have the DVD sent to you.

Kalookakoo…what schools are you wondering about?

This site has CampusVibe visit reports (see menu at left). Also, you can see college videos on YouTube. Ask specific questions in the forum for that college here. Usually there are current students hanging out who can help.

We got a few collegiate DVD’s a few years ago. Some were awful, some not bad. Holy Cross’s went on forever…maybe 90 minutes and then he did some of his own tourguiding, showed the grounds they missed, the athletic center, etc. I think Fordham was similar, he loved the tour guides and showed a different season he spliced in at the end, so you can see the campus differently. If my son only looked at the video for Drew though, he wouldn’t have gone, it was awful. I ordered only the ones over 45 minutes and no more than 2 years old.
I passed them on to friends and the guidance office and they were appreciated.
There are tour sites online if you google, but they vary and don’t include all colleges.

Get on a grayhound bus and go visit. It’s terribly important.
