If you could please take the time out to chance me, I'd deeply appreciate it! :]

(Note: My school is a very small, charter, magnet school which offers very few extracurriculars... There are few sports teams, clubs, etc...)

Writer for a local paper and a cultural magazine for 4 years

Active participant in my school's strategic planning

Eventually became a member of a small group (consisting of parents, faculty, and school board members) which focused on rewriting my school's mission statement and addressing the need for a new campus, among other things.

Helped pen the revised edition of my school's charter

I will, hopefully, have 50+ volunteer hours by the end of this semester

Some work experience (full-time for one summer... Unimportant?)

Joining CSF this year

Taught Sunday school for a year and helped out around the church in various ways (I am atheist, and these activities were sort of forced on me and took place in eighth grade... Should I bother including them?)

My school isn't too "competitive," if my definition of the term is correct. Most people who graduate do go to some form of post-secondary school, with I'd say, probably 50% attending UCs. It isn't terribly uncommon for students to end up at UC Berkeley, Stanford, etc....

Class rank: 10 as of my junior year, but 1 as of my sophomore year...

There are about 120 students in my grade.

Please help!

I am looking into:
Reed College
UC Berkeley
Stanford
St. Mary's
Lewis and Clark
UC Davis
UC Santa Cruz
Mills College
University of Oregon Eugene
University of Puget Sound

EDIT: I forgot to add that I'd like to major in cultural anthropology in college, and possibly minor in women's studies. I am also the first person in my family to go to college. :]

Sorry... I reeallly hate double-posting, but it seems you're only allowed to edit for a short period of time?

Anyway,

I think retaking (with improvement!) is a must for these three schools. A lack of calculus might be a problem (unless your school doesn't offer it). How about trying the ACT? Your grades indicate great ability.

Thanks, vossron!

My school doesn't offer calculus... After Algebra II, students are given the option of AP Statistics or Trig.

Thanks for the compliment, and I plan on taking the ACT in Sept. :]

bump bump bump...

would love to help but not familiar with alot of your schools. retake the SATs and don't worry about the EC b/c colleges get school profiles with your school. besides, there is this dumb trend on CC that makes people think everyones ec are bad when they aren't. i don't get it. someone posts amazing stuff and they just keep saying " a bit weak". yeah. no, don't get frusteratd by it.

Thanks, symphonie...

And I'll try not to get get too upset about those posts! :]

You have a good shot at all of your schools. Great grades/ECs. Stanford will be a reach as it is for anyone.

Personal question. A previous post stated that a lack of calculus could be a problem for applicants. Does honors Pre-calc count as a calculus course in the eyes of a college? AP calculus is offered at my school but, if I don't take it, will it hurt my chances?

Thanks, runningwriter. :]

I'd also like to add that school has begun for me, and I've changed my schedule around a little. I added on Spanish IV (honors) and swapped photography out for a year long survey of art course. I'm also taking a research component as a co-requisite to my English course at the JC.

Also, I'm not sure, runningwriter. I'm in the same exact spot. My school offers AP Calc. (NO ONE takes this!) and AP Statistics. Trigonometry/Analysis is the same as pre-calc, by the by.

Can someone please chance me? Thank you, thank you...

A last attempt: I'll chance you, too! :]

Stanford and UC Berkeley are out of ur league for now.

still, u got decent (not great) chances at the others
ur schedule seems WAYYYYY too easy

2 AP's??

Yeah, way too easy schedule to be considered for Berkeley or Stanford. If you retake and get a better score on the SAT, I think you have a pretty good shot at the other colleges.
