If you got into Emerson College journalism, what were your stats?

I will be a junior in the fall and Emerson College is my top choice. I would like to apply to the journalism program and I was wondering what grades and test scores I would need. If you got into the program could you please post your stats? Also, how competitive is the journalism program compared to other programs? Thanks!

I have not taken the ACT or SAT yet but my GPA is currently 3.45 UW and I am going to be on yearbook editorial next year (my school is really small 70 per grade so we don't have a newspaper). I am also in the school diversity club and model united nations and I have been published in the local paper. My school is a highly ranked catholic school in the SF bay area and 100% of graduates go to 4-year colleges and universities.

I am also currently doing a paid internship at a Silicon Valley news app start up.

Based on what you wrote here, I wouldn’t be worried at all. I got in Early Action this past fall and my stats are:

White female
Public HS in Connecticut (ranked #1 in Fairfield County, CT)
W GPA: 3.9 (not sure about UW…I think it’s around 3.7?)
SAT: 1730 (CR is 680, W is 610, M doesn’t really matter here haha)

I had 2 paid internships (NYC PR company and state newspaper), and was also the editor for the state newspaper teen section. I was involved with NHS, MUN, and also a varsity cross country runner, and the secretary for my class all 4 years.

As for the competitiveness of the school, I ended up choosing Emerson over NYU (I was accepted RD) because they have a more reputable and stronger journalism program. The professors are professionals in the field and often times act as catalysts for internships. For example, I have a friend who got and internship at E! News during her junior year because her professor had connections there. This isn’t to say that schools like NYU aren’t as good as Emerson, but in terms of the journalism program, I’ve found that Emerson is the leader.

Good luck and don’t stress out too much! Whatever is meant to be, will be
