If you had lots of money, would you rather donate it to charity or to close friends?

<p>I’d donate some of it to scientific research but I’d use most of it to start a charity where I actually knew the money was going to a good cause but I would keep a portion of it hidden for my personal use and I’d make it look like I didn’t have any money left because I don’t want to get hit up for money all of the time and I want people to want to know me for me and not for my money.</p>

<p>Oh true, giving it to a few others might actually HURT relations with others since others might start asking (and expecting) handouts from you</p>

<p>why would i want to give away my money? i can use it to help people but mostly to friends. however, i wouldn’t just DONATE the money. i’d see what their situation is and help out.</p>

<p>I’d donate it all to scientific research. So much so that our world would be ushered into the technological singularity. Then everyone could have what they want and money would be obsolete.</p>

<p>As with everything scientific research is inefficient and a lot of money gets wasted…etc; I think unless there was something specific I thought needed emphasis, if I had several billion dollars I would give most to a charity which helps those in third world countries, which would have greater human impact than just another lump of money which might accelerate the development of medical treatments</p>

<p>If I had lots of money, I’d honestly be one of those people middle-class and below people don’t like because I probably wouldn’t donate much at all. But what I did spare would go to a charity I support like the Michael J Fox Foundation. Those kinds of foundations do research, too, so it’s a two-for.</p>
