as a transfer... to go to

washu, emory, pomona, duke, bowdoin, northwestern, vassar

which one would you go to?

i didn't apply to all of these, i'm just curious as to the preferences of all us transfer CCers, and these seem to be some of the popular desired destinations

(ya... im procrastinating, entertain me!)

Out of those, I'd probably go to Pomona, WashU, or Vassar. I don't really think Emory is that great compared to those (and it's in Atlanta), Duke's not my "type," Bowdoin accepts way too few transfers so I'd be worried about being lonely, and Northwestern is great but I just wouldn't choose it over those top 3.

Personally, it would be Duke and Northwestern and Pomona at top

Wash U / Emory / Bowdoin are not at the same level, in contrast to Brand. He thinks a little too highly of Wash U (this is b/c he is likely headed there). Not to criticize him, but I read that he did not even get into NYU as a transfer....so much for wash u?

and btw, I am not a transfer hopeful. I graduated college like 7 years ago :)

wow dude you're an a**hole huh?

I like how you start off with "not to criticize him" and then go ahead and criticize me.

FYI, NYU CAS's acceptance rate was 6% this year. I don't feel bad about not being accepted.

Actually, stalker, I'm planning on attending Wesleyan, pending admission. Either way, whether I end up at Wes or WashU I think I'll be at a better school than you were at. Please take your late-twenties self elsewhere if you're just going to come to the transfer board to start crap.

Yea....NUGrad5555...why be so negative! College admissions is stressful enough without discouraging remarks from ignorant people on message boards! Keep it positive and helpful- please!

btw, quick question about nyu, why was it so low, ( i didn't apply, but i have a friend who did, and he is waiting for his status) just checking admission stats on collegeboard says that about 1500 of 5000 applicants are admitted last year, which is much more than 6%, why did it go down so much this year?

NUGrad,

Judging by your name, I would say that you're bias in favor of NU.

The colleges listed are very different. Pomona and Bowdoin are both excellent liberal art colleges. Saying that Bowdoin is "not even on the same level as NU" is ridiculous. They're totally different colleges, and for a liberal arts experience, I warrant that Bowdoin is "on the same level", if not better, than NU.

'Not to criticise you NUGrad', but based upon your past posts, it seems that you post on this website making claims about NU's superiority. Of all the universities, I have been turned off most by NU from their posters. There is a group of NU posters who constantly act arrogantly and make trouble.

CAS had a ton of internal transfers this year for some reason and they get top priority. From what I've heard, there are approx. 40 spots out of the 1700ish applicants to CAS alone. Given NYU's transfer yield rate, they probably accepted between 80 to 120.

Um, that was just in response to Brand's personal attacks on NU before in defense of Wash U. And sorry for that, I didn't mean to come across as rude or arrogant. And sorry Brand, I don't think you could convince one person outside of CC that Wesleyan or Wash U was superior to Northwestern.

after all, what campus are you referring to, I hear that Washington University has a campus in D.C, St. Louis, in the state of washington?

wow, that really sucks, so this is just an anomaly this year that it was so hard that the rate was 6%? that is, next year, the transfer rate should be much less competitive? in the range of 30%?

What the hell are you talking about dude? I don't even know you and have never said anything derogatory about Northwestern. I almost applied there this semester. You really need to do something besides post on CC if you have hang-ups against other posters based on stuff I can't even remember.

I don't really care what people think. I'm not gonna argue with you about which school is "better" because I really don't care. However, your inferiority issues aside, most people will tell you that these schools are all considered peers and you should choose based on fit.

P.S. - I think it's really funny that you criticize me a/b not getting into NYU CAS when they only took 6% this year, yet you got into NU back in the day when the acceptance rate was probably >40%. Congrats!

transferapp - I dunno. This year was definitely an anomaly. It's usually Stern that goes crazy low sometimes...I'm guessing a lot of people transferred in from GSP or something.

Are you wanting me to defend WashU or something? You'll need to go to the College Search boards in that case. I don't waste my time on prestige whores.

hey brand I can tell you like blink 182. and they suck. therefore you do too.
hope I'm not criticizing anyone ;)

Congratulations on your logic.

yeah I think I'm gonna major in logic.
In California I think most people would choose Pomona hands down. But not many people applied to Duke from my school so it's probably a regional thing.

Brand_182 is a really helpful member here at CC, always willing to help out or direct them to useful information on collegeboard or various college websites. I think it is really messed up that people are being so negative here. This is a discussion community and we are all here to help each other - let us all try and remember that.

lol

I wish nspeds were here. At least he had something meaningful to say when he argued and made it a challenge.
