If you like [selective school], you might like...

^ I think this one is tough.
Some people suggest Penn or Dartmouth, neither really less selective.

If looking on the West Coast, would anyone agree that Willamette might be a less selective CMC alternative? Forget the weather part and work with me here — Focus on internships, etc.?

i have never heard of willamette until right now. Despite being in Salem, its a pretty nice school.

Any for Reed?

Reed…Earlham?

I’d say Swarthmore for Reed.

And Earlham? Wow that’s a toughie…Denison?

Earlham and Denison are a lot alike. I’m not sure either is more or less selective without checking the CDS.

I’d say Bard, Swarthmore, or University of Chicago for Reed. Maybe St. John’s or Sewanee on the less competitive end?

If you like UCSB, you will also like ???

Yes, but Swarthmore is more selective than Reed. I think what most people are looking for is a less selective school as an alternative. I was going to suggest Bard, too.

For a woman, Bryn Mawr might be a Reed alternative, come to think of it.

@ RML

UCSB > Pepperdine > UCSC

If you like Yale you’ll like Hogwarts.

I was suggesting Earlham as an easier-to-get-into alternative to Reed.

This one needs a LOT of work. NYU and Case Western are nothing like Northwestern. I can’t speak to Carnegie-Mellon.

If you like Northwestern, you’ll like: Penn, Cornell, Tufts, Michigan, possibly Vanderbilt.

Yeah, I’d agree I don’t see NYU, CMU, CWRU or, for that matter, Tufts.

If you like Northwestern you’d like:

Duke, Stanford, Penn, Vanderbilt, Wash U, Cornell

How about if you like Georgetown, you’ll like…?
