If you send your SAT scores, but you decide to send your ACT scores instead...?

First, a preface.

I took the January SAT. Before that, I had taken the SAT 2 times. I used the 4 free score reports to send my scores to 4 colleges (I’ll send more, but that’ll come later). However, due to the nature of the offer, I had to send all 3 scores before I got the scores back for this most recent SAT. I was going to send all my SAT scores anyway, so it wasn’t a big deal to me.

But I’m registered to take the ACT on Feb. 11. I am also–involuntarily, but I appreciate it–taking an ACT test on Feb. 24, as paid for by the state of NC, in my high school, replacing a full school day.

So, my question is, if I end up getting a higher score on either of the ACT tests, or with the highest section scores (as some colleges are wont to do), and I want to send those scores…what do I do? :-/ Can I cancel my SAT scores after the fact? Do I just send the ACT scores, and then call each individual college and profusely apologize and ask them to disregard my SAT score? If I get high marks on my SAT IIs, can I send those alongside the ACT?

This is all assuming that I get a higher ACT score(s) than my 3rd SAT score.

Thanks in advance.

Didn’t realize this question was that niche. Bump?

You can’t cancel SAT scores after the fact. They’re already in your file. But the school will use the higher score of the SAT or ACT. Check the web site for your schools to see if they will even look at SAT IIs. I don’t know of any school that requires them that won’t also use the ACT so that’s not a problem.

@“Erin’s Dad” , thank you. I was under the impression that sending both the SAT and ACT would hurt me. Glad that’s not the case.
