The top schools would be what I'm most interested in as an answer to this. Say for instance that you have either not attended college after graduating high school, or you have enrolled full time for only six months or a year, can you apply for freshman admission at universities like those that don't accept transfers for example? (IE princeton?)

It may depend on the college. It looks like a no for Princeton.

"Is it possible to transfer to Princeton from another college or university?

No. At this time, Princeton is not able to offer transfer admission. Any student who has graduated from secondary school and enrolled as a full-time degree candidate at another college or university is considered a transfer applicant and isn’t eligible for undergraduate admission."

If you have NOT attended college post-HS, then you are considered a fr applicant at ANY school (the fact that P does not accept transfers is moot in this case).

If you HAVE attended college post-HS, then whether or not you are considered a transfer or a fr applicant depends on the individual school. For instance, GWU considers you a transfer if you have taken 1 post-HS college course, while Y & H still consider you a fr if you have completed less than a year of full-time post-HS college. Other colleges may have term or credit limits, so you need to go to the website of each college and read their policy, there is no general answer.

If you have completed a year of full time post-HS college, then ALL colleges will consider you a transfer applicant.
