I graduated from high school this year in March and enrolled in a college in India. I wish to apply to princeton as a freshman. I emailed them the above query and got a reply that I wasnt eligible. What am I to do?
Here is the reply..
Dear Radhika,

If you have been enrolled in a college or university, even for a

semester, your status is that of a transfer student. Princeton does
not
offer a transfer program. You would be ineligible to apply to
Princeton as
an undergraduate or to begin again as a freshman.

Sorry not to be sending better news. Best of luck with your college

Oh that's sad- it seems pretty definite :(

I was always under the impression that you could just "start over", but yeah, it seems that you can't. That sucks.

Unfortunately Princeton doesnt admit trasnfer students.

I read, however, that starting next year, they may change university policy to allow a few transfer students to enroll at Princeton.

For now, all I can say is that you consider other top American schools that do allow transfers if you feel that you cannot wait any longer.

Lots of Luck,

I think that transfer thing is a rumor...since Princeton's increasing the class size over the next few years, I don't think they will have space for transfers.

awwww that's no fun. :(

did college already start? is there a chance you could drop out without having completed the semester? maybe that would be okay...

the enrollment expansion makes institution of a transfer program all the more likely. but even with princeton's small size and high retention rate at present, it could still admit a small number of transfers if it really wanted to.
