i'm an entering freshman @ ucsd for 2007-2008 school year.

it's interesting to note that on my acceptance letter from revelle college (one of the six undergraduate colleges @ ucsd; the only significant difference between them is that they have different general course requirements), it said that revelle college had the highest percentage of applicants being accepted to med school among all public institutions. this means higher than the % of those being accepted to med schools from schools like cal and ucla, etc.

prima facie, it doesn't sound too true, but revelle college of ucsd is known to have one of the most extensive general course requirements of any institution (it's like 3 courses of calc; 5 of science; 5 of humanities; 4 in a foreign language, and MORE). it sounds like a lot of work, but if true, and it wouldn't make sense if it weren't given that their statement doesn't really seem ambiguous, then the courses must really prepare one for the MCATs. that or med schools notice the rigor of the courseload of revelle college grads. if none are true, then the kids who get accepted into revelle are just unexplainably nerdy, which is unlikely since ucsd as a whole isn't even in the top 5 of the "best" public institutions.

just another college to consider since the claim even amazed me (i am now proud that i chose to matriculate @ ucsd, let alone revelle!).
