IF you were the President

^You went to Cannes and saw Wall Street 2?

^ Gordon Gekko is intrinsically a bro, therefore, one need not view the actual sequel to know that he returns more bro than ever.

Well, I’m glad we’re in agreement on one thing. I won’t apologize for having radical ideas about education. I believe in a FUTURE for our nation. Sorry that is in an inconvenience for you.

Obviously, the tax money will not go solely towards education. Even someone as naive as you should be able to look at government spending in the past few years and see that. Not to mention that you can’t just basically steal the majority of an income from someone to “better” the nation. Not only will that rid us of incentives, but it would most likely lead to increased governmental control on all aspects of our life. How’s that for our nation’s future. You’re in the wrong continent, buddy. Move to China if you want that kind of life.

@Choco: I wasn’t neccesarily arguing against the idea, I was just making a point.

That said, it is true that “this tax will only go to x” is generally not worth much. They’ll just fund “x” less from the normal funds, thus freeing up money for whatever they really wanted to spend it on.

I would be president. Therefore, I could control the budget. I would not sign a budget that didn’t put these funds to the right use.

First of all, the majority is >50%. I am taking 50% of less than the full amount, which means I am taking < 50%. I am not taking the MAJORITY of ANY income.
Second, some places in America do have more than half of their income already taken to “better” the nation.

It would create educational revenue, not regulate any part of your life other than income. News flash: that is already regulated. Oh, and by the way, doom-and-gloom predictions of this getting rid of incentives is bogus. People aren’t going to go elsewhere for work any more than they already are. People outsource cheap jobs. High income people in the bracket I am targeting aren’t going anywhere.

First off, it would be ON the wrong continent. We do not live IN a continent. Second, I am not your buddy. Third, I dislike China and have no intentions of moving there. They do have a better educational system there though. I do not have to leave simply because I dislike a certain aspect of our government. Grow up.

Congress would probably hate you for that… I wonder if they can impeach you for failure to approve pork projects.

I am sick of arguing about this subject with an arrogant nobody. This is nonsense. How could you know that higher taxes would not regulate any more of our lives than income, you seemingly know it all? Why would people not lose incentives to be doctors if they have to deal with taxes that could take so much of what they earn? Why don’t you yourself grow up and get a clue of the real world, not Socialism ideology. Haven’t you seen what has happened in previous or current Socialist countries? And who besides someone like you cares if I said “in” instead of “on”? No difference! You just like to ridicule others to elevate your self-esteem. Go get a life.

^ If you’re sick of arguing why do you continue to do it? All I did was state my opinion and then correct you whenever you were wrong. Nothing more, nothing less.

And FWIW, I am in a (what we would call) Socialist country. They’re doing quite splendidly down here. Perhaps you should take a visit? It’s really a lovely country.

Haha, probably.

I like to argue, that’s why I do it. I’m just getting a little tired of it now because it’s the same thing back and forth every time… Correction: You corrected me whenever you THOUGHT I was wrong. These are our own opinions, shaped by our life and past experiences. You’re not always right, ‘buddy’.

Show me a correction I made where I did not properly correct you. I will apologize if you can show me where I was wrong. I live up to my mistakes.

“It would create educational revenue, not regulate any part of your life other than income.”

You sure about this? Is this really in our control?

“Oh, and by the way, doom-and-gloom predictions of this getting rid of incentives is bogus. People aren’t going to go elsewhere for work any more than they already are.”

Is this is fact?

“Third, I dislike China and have no intentions of moving there. They do have a better educational system there though.”

I know many that would argue on how bad China’s education system is.

“First off, it would be ON the wrong continent. We do not live IN a continent.”

Actually, I hate to break it to you but the United States is both “in” and “on” the North American continent. Not that it matters to anyone besides you, but you could say it either way and it really doesn’t matter.

People do understand how taxes work… right? If not, then this is a mute argument. I’m siding with romani on this one.

Sigh

I’m ending the puggly-romani argument here. Pura vida :).

Well education was interesting. At least many people agreed for tax raises on a certain tax bracket.

So how about foreign policy?

Getting out of Iraq promptly and Afghanistan within the next 2 years.

^Yeah, I said get out of Iraq in mine. Afghanistan, I know nothing about–what are we doing there exactly?

I put like 10 more things that I would do in my initial post

^ Combating the Taliban, and supposedly Osama Bin-Laden is there, and other Al-Qaeda officials.

^Yeah, but like, is it actually working? I don’t see how we can ever truly defeat radical forces…I feel like they will always exist…that doesn’t necessarily mean we shouldn’t try, but I don’t know. Basically, is it worth it?

I would:

Legalize marijuana. Significantly mitigate punishment for drug users (dealers should get punished severely, your everyday crackhead is more of a victim than a criminal). Lower the drinking age to 18. Revamp education. Force Israel and Palestine into a serious talk, and if Israel continues to be outrageous, drop support of Israel.

Idk, there’s more, I can’t think of it right now.

If only a chemical weapon that neutralizes the violent and radical sector of the brain could be developed.
