Go to this website and sign the petition. These students are trying to ask the Collegeboard for a free re-test because they do not feel throwing out the two sections was fair. This does NOT mean they will cancel everyone’s scores. So if you are happy with this, it will not affect you…If you are interested, please sign the petition and let’s help those who feel this was an unfair decision that negatively impacted their scores. Good. The decision on part of the Collegeboard is terribly unfair. I am glad these students are sticking up for themselves! How can the scale possibly be the same when they decreased the number of questions for CR from 67 to 47 and from 54 to 38. Basically you guys just took another PSAT ( and we all know those scales are harsher because there are fewer questions).
I have stated in a couple of posts that the campaign is entirely futile. It is OK to vent but it will make ZERO difference as ETS and TCB have a closet full of Teflon suits. They are able to ignore REAL problems for years --think organized cheating-- and will simply spend a bit of money to placate. Idiots a la FairTest’s Bob will make some hay from it, but that is about it. Students and parents will simply waste time that could be spent doing something productive.
As far as the length of the test, a shorter one will be valid but not necessarily more helpful for the … students. Isn’t the PSAT valid? Yes. It the full SAT also “easier” to score higher? And think the answer is yes also.
Why is a longer test better for … ETS? It does help the organization to continuously measure its historical comparisons and relevance and helps maintaining its historical integrity, An area where is leaps and bounds above its competitors.
