...would you get admitted into Columbia? haha

But seriously, how does Columbia treat legacies? Anyone know the percent accepted?

Just for clarification, if your dad was president, you'd probably be a legacy at Yale or Harvard.

I don't know the percentages but they do get a fairly significant boost (around twice the % of regular applicants).

edit: if your dad was president and graduated from Columbia....
that's what I meant to say.

Thanks for the information birdofprey

I ask because I have triple legacy

HOLY !@#$ !!! TRIPLE??
LOL, you shouldn't even need to come to the Columbia board.
Heck, don't even apply and you are probably in. ;)

Being a legacy DEFINITELY helps, and a triple legacy is just plain insane, but then again, if you got really bad stats then I guess the prestige family thing will work against you (such as How can our alumni produce this kind of student? Blah blah).

If everything else looks good, you definitely have a major hook on your hands! (Even if admission is sometimes crapshoot)

Good Luck!

well i have quadruple legacy..beat that!

*runs to a corner and cries..no legacy..heck..first generation.."

thanks for the information Delfire. I was so psyched when I found out about it, I was like "Yes, maybe I can get into college!" But then part of me doesn't want to get in only for that.. I'd feel like a jackas s. My stats are linked in my proifle on this website if you're curious. Too much work for a sunday night.... sigh

hmm ur stats and ecs looks great...GL!

LoL, ritzbitz133, you can't blame the adcom for wanting to create THEIR ideal freshmen applicant pool, you worry is just getting in, let them worry about the rest.

You see, this is how I perceive the legacy dilemma: A person gets into Columbia, then he or she must have some eye-catching qualifications. His or her offspring (for a lack of a better word) mustve been brought up by the same rigorous ideals/character that the parent holds. This set of personalities (be it ambitious, diplomatic, witty, or etc) is the very same of what Columbia liked about the parent. So MOST (because some kids turn out snobby because of bad parenting ;) ) of the time alumnis children turn up to be just the type that Columbia wants.

Either way, hope that helps. And your Stats/EC combo look just fine, if not better than average.
