If you've been accepted to UT Austin out of state can you post your stats please?

I'm applying from Virginia and I want to see the stats of those accepted in the past.

Nobody out of state for the class of 2014 has been accepted yet into UT. Everybody who isn’t auto admit will find out in Feb.

Hi I take it that you are a first year? Getting into UT Austin as an out-of-state student is extremely difficult unless you scored incredibly high on the SAT/ACT, have a solid high school GPA, and an impressive resume where you are involved and a leader in organizations.

I’m an out of state student from CT who applied as a first year and got denied. I ended up attending another school in TX, applied as a transfer student, and got in. I wasn’t very academically strong in high school (gpa 3.2) and I’m only an average student in college now (gpa 3.4).

My best advice would be to keep your fingers crossed for your application but maybe attending another TX school and then transferring in would be best? UT does not like taking out of students. 80% admitted are from the 10% of Texas high schools and the other 20% is left for Texas high school students not in the the top 10% of their school, international students, and out of state students. It’s highly competitive to get in.

According to this publication from UT, 32% of OOS students get accepted. Of those, 22% percent attend or stated another way, 7% of those who apply actually attend. The stats are included as well.

I transfered Spring 2013, I had 3.5 GPA, no SAT or ACT grades. Have no idea how I got in. Just above bottom 50% of graduating class.

I just got in! So excited

31 act

extracurriculrs, essays, recommendations all great

han7878: what major did you get accepted for?

There is another thread where people are stating they are oos and they were admitted already. Looks like some might find out before February.

I got accepted into the school of undergraduate studies

From my understanding, this is a specific school for undecided students wanting to explore other majors

When’d you find out and how?

Congrats to those who already got in for Fall 2014! Did you all apply early decision? Is that why you heard already?

@juanpisv I just randomly checked my account last Saturday and it said I got in. No email or anything.

I just received my acceptance to Red McComb’s Business School a few hours ago:

ACT:31
SAT:1960
GPA: 4.0UW

I was expecting an email, but I received the decision as a mailed letter. I’m OOS, btw.

Cowling, does your UT eID thing say that you have been admitted yet? I am eager to get my acceptance - or rejection - and I’m constantly checking. Our stats are very similar and I’m in state. Congrats!

I just received my acceptance to the Cockrell School of Engineering about an hour ago:

ACT: 35
(Didn’t report SAT scores)
GPA: 4.0 UW

I got mine a week ago in Kansas. I have a 2260 SAT, a bunch of 5s on AP tests, and am just out of the top ten percent with a tough course load. I also have some awards with debate and forensics at the state level and am a national merit semifinalist.

Got the letter yesterday in Wisconsin. Admitted to the Engineering School:

2130 SAT
33 ACT
3.95/4.0 (unweighted)

Didn’t have time to complete Honors Application. Oh well. Still cheaper than private schools.
