IIT JEE Or SAT

I am currently in 11th grade and preparing for iitjee and SAT...my preparation for iit is okay and i am more inclined towards US universities Than IIT! So i want to ask aside from SAT preparation what more i need to do? like social services, appear for olympiads and stuff like that to have a good profile and application? I have appeared for a few olympiads before(but i get a national rank around 250) and also have a good profile and grades in my school(CGPA 10 and 95%) and present college!and also i would.like to hear your opinions about iit vs us universities for undergrad

See, My first advice will be. don’t do something just for the sake of your app.

And secondly, there are a billion factors which are involved here.
IITs are economic. US is not.
IITs will be focused only on academics. You won’t have an option to study Computers and History at the same time. Your life will be based on Grades and Grades only.
I can write pages explaining you what i said and what i didn’t.
So, its your life. Choose what you like.

PM me if you have any further queries.

oh thanks…i will pm you if i need any help

do both. Its fun. Im doing both and enjoying myself. IIT prepares you to be scientific and SAT molds ur overall character…
Trust me ull end up better than u started!

and i am not doing anything for the sake of app! I have seen that the ones who got selected in universities like MIT,Stanford etc have some medals or extra co curricular record! so i was asking

@quiverfox so your primary aim is IIT or USuniversity

I applied only to the creme of US . else I want to do undergrad definitely at IIT

Everyone thought I was crazy when I decided to do both, but I’m a better person today because of my choice. Good luck! :)

@keya93 which university are you in?

Yup, me too doing both. TBH, you only need to prepare for Critical Reading/Writing. Maths is terribly easy.

geek, Don’t follow what others
did.
Be yourself, Be original.
Remember, Originality and Character
are the two qualities that adcoms are
looking for the most.

@EminemFan Can you suggest something for preparation of critical reading and writing?

@codeguy ok! thank you for your valuable advice

Geek96, Taking practices tests is the best way to prepare for the SAT. Use the College Board book for tests and if you feel the need, vocabulary really help!

i usually get the practice questions and question of the day correct! but when i solve questions other than the ones on collegeboard,it gets tough

What i meant is, buy the official college board SAT prep book! It contains 10 full length practice tests each of which you must take at one go. Go through the concepts before taken the tests and vocabulary lists can be pretty helpful. Check out spark notes 1000. Google it.

okay! i was tensed about only english a bit since i am giving my SAT in MAY! i tried solving english at majortests.com and the questions were damn hard

Yeah, I found it pretty challenging initially as well. But keep practicing!

I just finished my apps lol, I’m not in college yet :P

Oh and for your SAT prep, make sure you have a vocab list at hand, one you think will suit your requirements

ok…i have the 1000 word vocab list which happyasever suggested…so i will refer to that

@happyasever ya i keep practising but i dont think such hard questions might show
up in the SAT paper
