Justin,
I hope you didn't get into trouble for that "Lafayette lowers enrollment" thread. You have been a great resource for those of us trying to navigate the college admissions waters, and I wish you well.

Thanks for the quick response. I looked up your previous thread and we got a lot of info. about the dorms.

Justin remember you have First Amendment rights. If you need legal counsel I'm here for you. We who have been so helped by your obvious love of your school thank you for all your great information and support. Our family personally sends out our thanks for the time you spent with us when Dana visited Lafayette. I have my theories on what triggered the end of your CC postings give me a shout out on pm. If we don't hear from you again best of luck. I guess this marks the end of the Lafayette site.

Come back broseph!
You're missed here!

Justin,

I burned out on this thread at about page 18. Is there any way you could separate it into different threads? Two separations come to mind - one for admitted students with questions about classes and registration issues and another for those in the college search process.

Ricegal, go back to page 32 and you'll see that Justin is no longer allowed to post here. I'll personally miss his inside information - but I'll appreciate the opportunity to hear discussion from other students and parents which seems to have disappeared since he started his thread.

Thanks, altmom!

ricegal,

Yes, I know this thread has almost become a short novel! I appreciate your suggestion, but as altmom points out, I have decided not to continue posting on this forum.

altmom,

It's not that I'm not allowed to post here anymore...just that I have decided to only accept questions via email or PM.

Justin,

I can't believe you have decided to stop posting in this thread! It's a great resource for anyone interested in this awesome college.

I'll miss you! It feels like you're part of my family; you're like a brother to me!

Thanks for your knowledge and support!

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you find my posts to be helpful.

Justin,

I've only written a couple of times, but I've read every word of this blog in the course of my daughter's college search. You can't find this kind of information on collegeboard.com or any college website.

It's generous of you to offer to continue to answer questions, although I'll miss everyone's posts. A lot of them addressed issues I hadn't even thought of, but was interested to read about.

Good Luck to you Justin. Maybe we'll run into you in person next year.

shamrock,

Thank you so much for those kind words. The appreciation I receive from fellow CCers means more than you could ever imagine.

If you think of any questions from now until Freshman Move-In Day, you know where to find me.

Fellow CCers:

I have received many questions lately regarding course offerings at Lafayette. The Registrar's Office has finally decided to include a PDF file of the Fall 2007 Class Schedule on their website.

To locate the PDF:

Visit www.lafayette.edu

Go to the "Quick Links" pull-down menu and locate "Registrar's Office"

Click on "Schedule of Courses and Exams"

Click on "Fall 2007 Class Schedule (PDF-not updated)"

I encourage prospective and admitted students to check it out.

candyman,
I was just accepted to Lafayette and I am 90 percent sure that this is where I want to go. I was hoping that you could answer a couple of questions for me.
1) I just visited the campus this past weekend and I ate in the dining hall at (I think it was called...) the community center. They served mainly cheeseburgers and pizza and cereal, and I was hoping for more of a healthier option. Is this the main dining hall at Lafayette? Are there more healthier options available do you know? How do you feel about the food at Lafayette?
2)Is there a good sense of community at Lafayette? I am deciding between here and PSU where there are huge football games where the whole school comes together (but i don't really feel like a big school is what I am looking for). Is there a sense of community where all the students come together at all?
3) How are the intramural sports at Lafayette? I know that there are no gym classes, are there other ways or classes to exercise? Does Lafayette have clubs like running clubs?
4) Which residence halls are the best for freshmen? Can you tell me anything about Kamine Hall? What would be the best place for a female freshman who wants to live with probably all freshmen?
5) Can you tell me anything about the medical school acceptance rate? Is there a lot of grade deflation at Lafayette?
6) Does Lafayette ever feel too small or does it everfeel too much like a high school at all?
7) Last question- What if i do not have any AP credits and want to be a bio major and possibly go to medical school later, will that be a problem? Can i still meet all of the bio major requirements and still take other classes even though I do not have any AP credits?

Thank you so much for your help, I'm so sorry that I am asking too many questions, and i realize that you can probably not answer all of them.
Thank you!!!!!

Whats the deal with the social scene and parties?

I'm accepted into Lafayette and I'm very close to making a final decision on it. First though, a few questions:

I've read up on how 1/3 of the campus is greek. I've also read a lot about how you don't need to be in a frat to have fun and all that. Well what if you do want to join a frat? What is the experience like then? Is it a lot of partying and alcohol or is it just a group of brothers living together performing community service and whatnot.

I'm just now starting to go to parties at my high school where people have been partying for the last 2-3-4 years and I feel like I've really been missing out. So, I don't really know if more or less partying would be what I'm looking for, but I'd like to know what it's like at Lafayette regardless.

I've also heard about the administration cracking down on the frats lately. Is there any truth to this?

Now on to some non-frat related questions. Does the school ever feel too small to you? It sounds very appealing to be able to get to know most of the people at college, but does that cool feeling you get when you meet new people ever go away?

I hear the food is pretty good at Lafayette, what's your opinion?

I'm sure I have more questions that I can't think of at the moment, but that should do it for now. Thank you for taking the time to help people make their decisions and find out more about the college. It really is appreciated =D
