i'll be going to a CC this fall and i'm still undecided on my major

i plan on transferring to a 4 year school. but right now im hopefully about to enroll in a CC. i forgot what the online application said exactly but it was asking me to pick a major so i just put business administration since my parents were with me as i took the online application inside the actual CC campus - not like i could ask them to give me a week to decide or anything since i need the application completed asap to receive an appointment schedule with an adviser

but i dont even know anything about business administration. just seemed like a safe choice since my family just keeps talking about business careers/jobs (accountants, financial analysts, etc.). i particularly enjoyed STEM subjects back in high school considering i was in the stem track. i enjoyed and excelled mostly in chem, physics, and calculus (or anything else math).

anyways, when i meet up with the adviser, will i still be able to change what i put in the application? but then again, even if i can, i don’t know what to change it to. even if i excel in those said subjects, im just so unsure about a lot of things in the future. so yes i acknowledge and im ready to be chastised for the fact that i have been very irresponsible since i didn’t search enough on majors and future careers. sorry if this is more of a story telling than a question but im just in need of other people’s opinion. thank you

At some point you could change your major but for the purposes of choosing your first semester courses, make sure you take some general ed courses that could be helpful for most any majors. For example, if you think you might major in science, then the math course you might take might be the regular calculus rather than the calculus specifically for business or non-science majors.

If chemistry, physics, and math are your best and favorite subjects, consider majors like:

Math
Statistics
Physics
Astronomy
Earth science / geology
Chemistry
Various engineering majors
Economics
Computer science

When choosing courses, choose math, physics, and chemistry courses for those majoring in those subjects, not the watered down ones for business or biology majors.

If you’re good at stem you could always consider getting a major in statistics or math - that could set you up to be an actuary.

BTW, it’s OK that you don’t know exactly what you want to do yet. But try to think about the sorts of jobs you’re interested in doing.
