I'll be in debt if I go to Brandeis, is it worth it?

If I go to brandeis I'll have to pay 70k-75k after I graduate along with whatever costs come with getting the masters degree in comp engineering that I want. But at Fordham I only pay around 3k-4k a year so Ill graduate with around 15k-20k debt. Im also planning on doing the 3-2 program at columbia so those numbers may vary. It feels like 75k+ debt is a bit much, I don't want to spend so much time paying off debts. Which would be the better option for me? I think the 3-2 program sounds good but is it too good to be true?

I think Fordham is an easy choice here. Many would choose it even if the costs were the same.

Fordham sounds like the better bet to me, but I am really debt-averse. There have been many threads on cc about 3-2 programs. You should try to find some.

yeah fordham is in an amazing area. Lincoln center is awesome and i dread leaving nyc for boring ol waltham. I’ll just ace fordham’s classes and get a good gpa there. That’s what it’s all about.

75k is too much, and you can’t even borrow that much without a co-signer. The only loans you can get on your own are the ones you qualify for by filling the FAFSA, and the total for four years of Stafford loans only comes to 27k. Fordham looks like a better option for you.

Go to Fordham.

thanks for the responses. I think Fordham is the smarter choice. I’ve read about others who turned down more prestigious universities for financial reasons. In the end you’re trying to save money. And college name does not factor into your salary as much as skill and initiative.

How many posts are you going to make about going to Brandeis vs. Fordham? Surely you’ve heard every ounce of advice people on CC have to offer…

I don’t the relative prestige of Brandeis vs Fordham is anything to get worked up about, anyway. Besides, have you visited Brandeis? I don’t know what you’re looking for, but I did the B-deis admitted students’ overnight in early April and was floored by the lackluster social environment and level of discontent within the student body. Just my opinion, though; if you visited and loved it, that’s something to consider. However, I say the debt isn’t worth it.

urichmond, forum nazi? Dude if you don’t have anything sage to offer, just get lost. Try not to lose sleep over a couple of extra posts.
