Ill Chance Back Right Away...I need to know! (NYU, BU)

I'm a Junior, and my dream has been to go to NYU all my life.
I do want to go into business, but I feel my stats are not up to par to get admitted+get decent financial aid (which I critically need)

Should I apply to CAS or Stern? Could I transfer to Stern later?
My other choice would be BU or University of George Washington in DC..chance for those?

SAT: W: 800 M:780 CR: 710
SAT II: Math IIC: 710 (am taking lit, history, Math IIB and Chem in the next two testing sessions, expecting 700+ on all)
GPA: 3.6 uw (low, I know, but Im working VERY hard on bringing it up) 4.3 w
Top 5% of school class of about 1300 in a decently competitive public school

AP Lit and Comp: 5

-Founder and President of Hope for Haiti, a nonprofit group that through my personally directed fund raising has raised over 7K to send to Port-au-Prince
-President of Journalism Club

-Chief editor and layout editor of the HS newspaper
-Teacher's assistant for Journalism+Teach class on occasion
-UU Youth Group (includes large scale fundraising for New Orleans and housing project in NY)
-YRUU Spiritual Youth Leadership conference 2 yrs

ECs for Senior Year
-National Historic Society Internship
-2 Capstone projects, one in pre-law, one in business
-working as a waitress at the Meat House
-tutoring 5+ hrs a week, all levels of students

Classes for Senior year:

Awards:

And some minor ones I cant remember

Community Service Hours: 150+

Extras: Russian/French, bi-lingual, bi-sexual, first generation immigrant

Honestly, even if your GPA is low, your extra-curriculars and SATs are stellar. You will easily get into BU, and I’d guess you have a pretty good chance at NYU, too.

I think you’ll definitely get into NYU if you didn’t need FA…but since you do I’m not sure~ Though your profile definitely looks good.

Thanks guys thats reassuring…any more opinions would be lovely :D

And just post your links so I can follow through and chance back

I would think that you would be a low match at NYU, but it would be hard to get merit aid (but entirely possible). I’m fairly sure that its difficult to change schools at NYU, they kindof want you to get locked into one.
BU is safety, however I don’t know about how its aid is
GWU is probably safety, and has terrific Merit aid. top 20 % score wise (I assume you would be in based on SATs) get merit scholarship worth at least 15k a year

Chance back

anywhere else you are looking at?

Well IMO your statistics aren’t bad. You would definitely have a better chance of getting into NYU than most other people, but as christian said, it wouldn’t be a lock in.

BU would be a great safety for you.

[Chance me!](<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/899627-what-my-chances-nyu-cornell.html"]Chance”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/899627-what-my-chances-nyu-cornell.html)

Thanks guys…again, the FA is what’s terrifying me. I feel relatively comfortable with my stats besides my GPA, but it seems that no one’s getting anything more than 10K from NYU

Yeah, NYU is getting really stingy with their FA. I’m not sure, but maybe it’s because of the decrease in funding from NY.

It’s mainly that (or so I’ve heard)

but of course, it has to happen these few years ;_;

I don’t know…I 100% want to go to NYU, know that if I apply for EA than I wont get anything at ALL (my family income is 100K, but we have had a lot of family medical problems and are supporting my uncle’s 4 person family) so I pretty much need atleast 30k aid or else there’s no way I can go. :/

You have pretty good SAT scores, and nice EC’s with leadership, though the GPA leaves something to be desired. I suggest you leave the bisexual thing to maybe an essay or something, but that could probably turn out well. I would give you a match or safety for most of these schools, but NYU is probably a high match.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/898730-chances-duke-penn-cornell.html</a></p>

You’re in for BU, nyu is a little harder to say

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1028124-chance-me-please-ill-100-chance-you-back-right-away.html</a></p>

Your ECs set you apart from other applicants, which will help you. You’re in at BU (the safety suggested by Bag3ls). As for NYU, you’ll find it easier to get into CAS than Stern, but if you aren’t going to be happy there I’d definitely suggest you apply to Stern: you have a decent shot at getting in.
Best of luck! Chance me back?
