I'll Chance You! Chance Me! MSU/BU/SU/OSU/NYU

I would like to gurantee myself entree to at least one of these colleges:

Michigan State
Boston University
Syracuse University
Ohio State University
New York University

So I have a very low GPA, but none of these are very prestigious colleges, maybe more average or a little above average. The following are stats after senior year

Honors Classes:
Honors English 9
Honors English 10
Honors Algebra 2
Honors Pre Calc
Honors Biology
Honors World Studies

AP/IB Classes:
AP Calc AB
AP Calc BC
AP Language and Comp
IB Biology
AP European History
IB Literature
IB Chemistry

Regular Classes:
Economics
US History
Chemistry

Electives:
Astronomy
Anatomy
Physcology
Debate
Spanish I-III

EC's:
3 Years Debate Team
4 Years Quiz Bowl
4 Years Tennis
2 Years Out Doors Club
2 Years One Small Step
2 Years Chess Club
2 Years Astronomy Club
1 Year Spanish Club

Volunteering:
100 Hours at Hospital

Have not taken ACT or SAT yet, but I recieved a 164 on my PSAT without prep, so I'm assuming with prep I should be able to get at least 1700-1800 on my SAT and 25+ on my ACT. The real problem is with all these classes there is no weighted GPA giving me about a 3.2 GPA

The GPA can't be raised any higher then that, and It's low because I took all honors classes my freshman year and wasn't ready for it and I was still weak on my GPA sophomore year. Will these colleges consider that I took some of the most rigorous courses at my school? Also I doubt I can get above a 30 on my ACT even with prep, due to being bad at standardized tests, so would shooting for a 28 be good and guarantee success?

What I really want to know is what can I do to guarantee myself to get into one of these colleges?

Thanks!

enter competitions (you need awards) and get some leadership positions in your ECs, I consider NYU a prestigious school, that’s probably a reach for you considering your GPA and SAT/ACT.

I think BU is good to aim for, you have a good chance there, the other schools I’m not very familiar with.

I see, Would I have a good chance at NYU if I get a 30 on my ACT?
They will consider that I took mostly hard classes right?

They take ALL things into consideration. Perhaps ECs, insightful essays, and recommendations can compensate for your gpa. With all that being said, don’t give up on yourself.
Yes. NYU is almost guaranteed with a good essay and 30 on your ACT.
