They are both required writing prompts with a 250 word maximum. Can someone help me with this? I’ve completed my responses but would like a second opinion on them.
Question 1: Why are you interested in Illinois Institute of Technology?
Question 2: Tell us why you are pursuing your selected major. If you are undecided on a major tell us about the academic areas of interest to you.
For Question 1, you could go anywhere with your answer. If you like the location, if the school’s reputation is good, or even if you’re going there to get away for college, write about that. Really try to make it seem as though you couldn’t imagine going anywhere else.
For Question 2, talk about your passion for the major you’re applying into. If you’ve had a lifelong interest in this major, include an anecdote and talk about how this school could get you far into the industry of whatever major it may be.
To answer college app essay questions, you really have to let your heart do the talking. If you sound passionate in your essay, it will seem promising to the admissions office and will give you a better chance of being accepted.
Also, if you’ve gone on a tour at the school, talk about how you can imagine yourself there and how you fell in love with the campus. If you find the campus to be opportunity-rich, write about that as well.
