Illinois Tech's Camras and Duchossois Scholarship Deadlines - December 1, 2015

The deadline for applications for the [Duchossois Leadership Scholars](https://admissions.iit.edu/undergraduate/finances/duchossois-leadership-scholars-program) and the [Camras Scholars](https://admissions.iit.edu/undergraduate/finances/camras-scholars-program) programs at Illinois Institute of Technology is December 1, 2015.

Candidates for Camras Scholarships are selected by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions from the completed Illinois Tech applications as of December 1 and are invited to submit an additional essay and letters of recommendation and to attend interview “weekend” in February 2016.

The Duchossois Scholarship is a highly selective, full tuition, room and board scholarship which has a focus on outstanding academics and leadership. Full applications for this program, including essays, resume, and letters of recommendation must be completed by December 1, 2015. Selected applicants will be invited to campus for an interview “weekend” in February, 2016.

The Duchossois Leadership Scholarship program is unique in that students have a close mentoring relationship with the two endowed Duchossois Professors as well as regular contact with the donor, Craig Duchossois.

Successful applicants will be asked to participate in leadership activities throughout their time at Illinois Tech and each student will have a summer educational experience after their first year of studies. In summer of 2012, the Duchossois Scholars and Professors, attended the Engineering Leadership Conference in Adelaide, Australia followed by a 4 day stay in Sydney including a visit to the University of New South Wales. In the summer of 2013 and 2014, the Duchossois Scholars participated in Earthwatch institute organized expeditions in Italy (2013) and in the UK (2014).

Illinois Tech offers many other scholarships for [First Year](https://admissions.iit.edu/undergraduate/finances/first-year-scholarships), [url="<a href=“https://admissions.iit.edu/undergraduate/finances/transfer-student-scholarships%22%5DTransfer%5B/url”>https://admissions.iit.edu/undergraduate/finances/transfer-student-scholarships"]Transfer[/url], and International students.

Please feel free to ask questions about these and other scholarships. I will answer what I know about and point you in the right direction on questions I cannot answer myself.

When do scholarship results return?

Also, general question: when do admission results return for Dec 1, EA? Thank you

@orjioke33 - Admissions is rolling so that a decision is made soon after the application is complete. The December 1 deadline is for consideration of the major scholarships where applicants must be invited to the Interview Weekend in early February. Those invitations will go out before mid-December.

I believe that when admissions decisions are made, initial scholarship offers are also made. This should happen pretty soon after the application is complete.

That makes sense. I appreciate it. Thank you!

@xraymancs Another quick question. I want to take the December ACT. Do you know if any of these scholarships accept the December ACT?

As far as I know the applications need to be complete, however, you should ask the admissions office. If you have a previous ACT or SAT score, make sure you have that submitted and then add the December ACT later.

As an update, we had over 160 applications for the Duchossois scholarship. We will be sending out invitations to interview weekend by mid-week.

@xraymancs how many are being invited to interview?

For Duchossois there will be 15 interviewees. I was involved in the selection and it was very tough. Many excellent candidates…

Many more have been invited for Camras but those invitations went out as the admissions were made.

I’ve been invited to Camras Scholarship Weekend. If I can’t make the trip, can I still be chosen for the scholarship?

Would a Camras Scholarship Weekend invitation arrive with/in the letter of admission or separately? Thank you.

I believe they send them out simultaneously to the top 25% of the applicant pool by whatever criterion they use to determine that.

If chosen for the Camras or University Scholarships, can awards be combined with previously granted merit scholarships?

Both the Camras and University Scholarships are greater than and replace other merit scholarships.

@xraymancs , how many Duchossois Scholarships are awarded? We are very excited that our son was selected as a finalist to interview in February.

Congratulations to him. We had 169 applicants and we are interviewing 15 candidates. If we follow form, it is likely that we will make 2 offers and have an alternate. However, most of our Duchossois interviewees will also be considered for the Camras scholarship.

@xraymancs , thanks for the info!

I look forward to meeting him as I am one of the interviewers for the program.

Great!
