I am thinking of applying to the Fashion Institute of Technology to study illustration and/or graphic design. I read that 90% of all graduates of FIT in NYC find jobs in their fields. I went to visit and they seemed to have a good program for helping students find internships and jobs during school and after graduating. What I'd like to know is, does this apply well to illustration majors? I understand that illustration is kind of a tough field to get into, but how well does FIT help you find jobs in illustration? I'd love to hear from an illustration major of FIT what their experience was like finding a job in their field after graduating. If you know someone who studied illustration at FIT and know what their experience was like that is fine too. :)

Can someone tell me what their experience was like studying illustration at FIT? Do they prepare you well for the business side?

I want to be an illustrator pretty badly, and I understand that I might have to work a series of part-time jobs for a while after graduating while I set up a name for myself, making websites and blogs, etsy shops and such. I know that I have to work hard. Is it really as difficult as it sounds to be an illustrator?

Thank you so much,
Shannon
