I heard that out of staters actually had a better shot this year because they pay higher tuitions and with a) NY budget cuts and b) Cornell losing money on its endowments re: Financial Times....they want to take people who pay more

BWCW thats exactly what we've been talking about lol.

But think of it this way: if you do get accepted and you're in-state, you pay a lot less money.

in exactly a month's time (30 days), we'll see our results :O
i'm so excited + nervous as heck.

Chandler, I read your chance thread, you are definitely in...you're a perfect match for Bio. Don't stress too much :)

I don't find out if I got accepted till like May...my apps are due March 15th. I have like a month off for winter break in which I'm gonna do my apps. Good luck guys.

i think i should bring up this post

Lol just got back from a labor seminar/dinner that my interviewer had invited me and another girl from my school who is also applying to ILR ED to. Topic was age discrimination and despite how it sounds was certainly interesting. Average age there was like 70-75 though lol and was composed of a mix of arbitors/lawyers/union reps. Most were ILR graduates meaning they were from some of the earliest classes of ILR alumni since it opened. If only the inbstate rate was still 90% sigh.

stargazer: Thanks! But I applied to Human Bio, Health, and Society as my primary and Bio in CALS as alternate. Do you still think I fit HBHS?

Sounds cool mike, and yeah a 90% in-state rate would be pretty sweet.

Thanks Chandler, also I think you fit HBHS very well and definatley have the stats to have an amazing chance at getting in. I really dont think you have to worry about it lol.

Thanks mike, that's really awesome to hear at this point of waiting for decisions. I'm worried mostly because a) Cornell can be fickle and b) My required math sat II score is pretty awful
oh and c) didn't get an alumni interview request
Good luck with ILR! It sounds like you have a great shot with all the labor/union stuff you do (AFL-CIO is pretty unique)

So its been a while, I'm just bumping this up. The countdown has begun dec 11 is the day. Also on an unrelated note me and a female classmate who also applied to ILR ED were arguing how much being a female helps in ILR admissions and according to last years staticts females have an overall 30% accepptance rate versus 21% for males meaning a huge advantage. Boy does that suck for us guys. Im starting to freak out dont know if I can handle clicking that link on dec 11th.

cheers,
Mike

man does anyone else find themselves imagining their life next year at cornell, only to realize that you aren't even accepted yet?? i am soo dying to see the decisions~

I wonder what the HumEc acceptance rates are by gender. On one of the other threads people were discussing that, even though HumEc has more females, they prefer females? That doesn't make sense to me, plenty of guys want to be doctors/lawyers...
The countdown began October 11th when I sent in my application haha :P
Clicking that link may just be one of the hardest things I'll ever have to do... but somehow I'll manage.

Yeah, I do that so much onlyiknow, but it'll stop if i get rejected haha

chandler, you ask and i deliver

HumEc's acceptance rate by gender: males=27.8% females= 34.1%

Ehh those dont look too good.
Where'd you get them from?

Thanks for the info, hopefully the acceptance rates won't go down too much this year.

bumpin it up

why do females have an advantage in HumEc, it's dominated by women...like chandler said, plenty of women are interested in Law/policy/Medicine...I guess it might be because there's some majors which women might like more, like Interior Design and Fashion or whatever. I wonder if PAM is also dominated by girls?

Who knows? If I get in, I won't complain haha :P

But probably the DEA and FSAD majors are dominated by girls, so HumEc has more girls than guys? I doubt HBHS/PAM/B&S are dominated by girls.
