I just got a phone call for ILR interview.
What questions the interviewer might ask me?

From what I’ve heard, generally the interviewers ask a few questions such as:
- What are your goals?
- Does ILR offer unique opportunities to you that you cannot get at your home institution?
- What sets you apart as a candidate?
These questions, though they can be sheathed in any number of ways by the interviewers, who are quite clever people, are the goals that they need to mark down as their report from your interview.

Like any good interview, you need to sound optimistic throughout it, and you should probably do some intense research on particular faculty or staff that are in your specific ILR department of interest that you can mention.

But above all else, be flexible and pay attention to what the interviewer wants to talk about. If they are afficionados of Union wages, and that’s what their concentration was in, then discuss that. Nobody likes to discuss something they find dull, and interviewers are people too. Treat them with etiquette and respect, and be honest about your goals as a potential Cornellian.

Good luck!

Thanks bpsbgs!

Anyone experienced the questions besides what bpsbgs said?

from what I’ve heard, if they’re contacting you around this time, that’s a good sign.

^ that’s soooo not true lol
i had an interview with ILR yesterday (was contacted a week ago) and the guy didnt even have my application.
He said they havent put all apps together yet -
And an interview for ILR transfer is a requirement.
Not a good or bad sign, I would say.

Just be yourself. And bpsbgs pretty much said everything, so dont worry too much about it.

I wish what WillHeMakeIt said is true, but I know that an interview is a requirment for all transfer applicants.

I really hate a phone interview. I prefer face-to-face conversation

yeah Ian interviewd me too. and I won’t necessarily call it an interview since he doesn’t have my application yet, he just asked some basic questions about my current school, ec and why transfer, why ilr of course. It’s relaxing and no need to prepare for it in my opinion…
