I love its curriculum, but I don't know if I'll be able to handle it..

anyone ??

i hear this is true too..anyone out there like to give another opinion (i may just reconsider cals/aem)

ilr is very heavy on reading and it is by no means considered an 'easy' major. There's no need to fear it, though, just as long as you put forth the effort required ... this is Cornell university here.

in ILR, there's a fair share of easy and hard classes, sometimes depends on who is teaching the course and so forth. Compared to all of the courses i've taken in CAS, the grading in ILR for papers and so forth is usually just as tough, though ILR will require alot more reading and research (at least based on my experience).

according to one of the counselors at ILR, the average GPA for classes in the 100 and 200 level is around 2.9 and the average for 300 and 400 level classes is about a 3.3 (Dean's list for freshmen is something like 3.4 then 3.5 for sophomores and something like 3.6 for juniors and seniors). These were told to me, so I can't post some website link or anything proving them.

if you think the curriculum in ILR is right for you, then by all means apply there. There's no reason somebody will struggle, unless they simply don't care. The professors are more than willing to help you out with any question or concern. It's a challenge, yes, but I've enjoyed it thus far and wouldn't trade it for any other major in any other school.

My first semester in ILR has been pretty good in terms of workload. Then again, the only real ILR class I had this semester was Organizational Behavior. The reading is not difficult at all for that class and it's pretty easy material.

yeah, intro OB and intro HR are pretty much the 'easy' classes I mention, they're mostly just common sense. Two easy A's for me. I didn't do any of the reading for HR, did some for OB in preparing for the exams, but not much more. They're both just 'repeat after the lecture' style for the short exams as well.

from wut i heard ILR is a joke compared to the rigor of engineering

if you're comparing the math skills, then yes, though my roomate is in engineering and I dont know how he passes with how little time and effort he puts into his work

according to my roomate, engineering generally has hard problem sets, but they don't take that long to do unless you have no idea what's going on. But for ILR, you can't shorten reading 1 book a week for history.

I know ILRies who couldn't do engineering stuff (me included), and engineers that would struggle in ILR
