I'm a finalist, and I did not rank colleges

So what exactly happens? I did not rank any colleges, and I know I have to apply through regular decision, but do the colleges give me the scholarship when I apply regularly through Questbridge forwarding and complete their applications?

You will get financial aid notifications at the same time you get admission decisions, in March, for most QB schools. Since you didn’t rank, you know you’re okay to apply ED or EA, if you want, right? [National College Match Flowchart](QuestBridge)

You cannot be matched. Your financial aid award will be the same as having not used QB.

Okay, thanks guys :D

I am also a finalist but did not rank any colleges, apart from financial aid since its the same as applying without QB, is there an actual advantage through applying with QB in admissions to schools like brown and northwestern? Since I don’t see any advantage of being a finalist at this point…

You will possibly receive free application fees, you will possibly get a free visit to the schools, and the QB app gives a different perspective of you to the schools and see what you have done to overcome adversity.

Thanks for your reply!! would you have any insight on Northwestern,Brown and Pomona college…I’m so confused as to which one I should apply early decision…Do you think I have a good shot at one of these?
My stats are
ACT 25
GPA 4.4 Weighted ;3.8 UW
Rank 9/384
8 AP courses; AP scholar w/ distinction award
Policy debate team (3rd year) also captain position.
Low income/first generation…

Not to be rude, but with that ACT, none of them…

@starfish, being chosen as a QB finalist means that the QB evaluation committee believes you have a good chance of admission to any of their partner colleges; and that means a great deal more than the opinion of the last poster, a high schooler who seems to spend a whole lot of time reading chance threads.

As a finalist, your application fees are waived to all QB schools. Apply ED to the school at the top of your list. They are all competitive schools, though, so have your RD apps ready to go for the others. The only sure way not to get admitted to a school is not to apply.

okay, I’m gonna call it: BURN!!!

but like scoutsmom said, the ppl at QB have seen potential in you so you definitely have a chance at those schools. I wouldn’t be against taking the ACT again or SAT to see if you can do better but by all means, do not let the score stop you from applying :D

How about some ice for that burn?

Mr. VC

Yep, I feel burnt, lol. But whatever, if they wanna’ have him waste his ED at schools where less than 1% of the entire student body was admitted with that score, so be it. If he was a recruited athlete, or his parents donated a building or something, he MIGHT have a chance. Alternatively, if he could get his ACT up to… Say, a 29 (I saw someone with a 29, in get into NU using QB, that’s why I put it at this number, not 30), he’d actually have a shot. But he asked if he had a chance with his current stats. I answered honestly. Nightscream33, read the decision threads from these schools, and look at some statistics, and you’ll see why I replied the way I did.

By the way, I don’t know why I should be attacked… Everyone could give him his or her own opinion without denouncing mine specifically. I think that’s a bit… Belligerent, not to mention rather immature. Besides, you shouldn’t denounce my opinion, you know nothing I don’t, pertaining to the matter at hand, that is. If you can magically tell him he has great chances at these schools, and know that with enough certainty to specifically denounce my opinion, well, you should be busy on the receiving end of a psychic hotline, not fooling around on CC(;

Well honestly I believe the response would have been less hostile had you explained why you believe so. You may have said “not to be rude” but your comment still retained a negative connotation.
