-2180 combined on SATs (790 M 700 C 690 W)
-just outside the top 5% of my class
-go to a public school
-played varsity sports for my sophomore+junior year--still play recreationally
-taking 4 AP classes this year; took AP US HISTORY last year and got a 5
-national merit scholar commended
-currently taking an EMT class
-associate editor of the school newspaper
-i only have a 89 GPA-which is like a 3.2 (its a 109 adjusted because of my hard classes) thats pretty much my weakest point
-i work part-time
-i play guitar and have taken lessons throughout high school
-national honor society
-4 years of spanish

they can probably pick up off my transcript and teacher letters that i dont do alot of school work-i am in the hardest possible classes and coast through them with As/Bs (for 4 AP classes that is ridiculously hard)

can i get into at least one of my top choices of William and Mary, Yale, Chicago

also i would settle with BU BC or one of the easier ivys

i think if i apply to all of them one is bound to accept me (my sats are above average at every school in the country except MIT) i dont want to "easy" schools and as of now thats all i am applying to..

what are the chances i get rejected from every school i named? my top school is yale-what is the chance i get in?

if i might get shut out of all of them...any suggestionson SLIGHTLY lesser schools?

btw i am an enormous slacker...i havent done any homework whatsoever my entire high school career...also my sats are with 0 preparation...so dont think im a little nerdy kid struggling to get by--thats why my grades arent so hot

also one school requires sat IIs...so i took them on a whim too...i finished spanish and US hist junior year so did really ****ty on them in november of senior year...740 math 580 US 500 listening spanish..can i not send them???

one would think, right?
lol but thats mainly because my school had no choices up until senior year..as a junior i was only able to take 1 AP...anyways, im turning over a new leaf-and now i can tke whatever interests me...and i hope i could get into at least one school i named..i think i even got a pretty decent shot at cornell...im ranked 16 in a class of 300..so thats still pretty diesel--if i got a low gpa because i get Bs in AP classes i dont see that as a problem...its not that i dont do work because i dont want to its that i could get A/Bs doing nothing so why put in 5 hours a day and to boost my grade 5 pts

im from CT, not crazy about any state school but uconn, and thats not even very entivcing for me...however i got the sats, gpa, and rank to get into their honors program

bumppppppppppppp
please someone tell me if i cam get into my schools-mainly w&m
idk if ive mentioned this but i am taking literally the hardest courseload in my senior class

Well, the problem or what you might want to consider is this: you did well as a slacker in your high school but Yale and W&M and Chicago are not generally assumed to be schools where a slacker would apply, much less enjoy if they were accepted and attended.

You sound really interesting, esp the EMT course, and you are obviously bright. I just would not put all of your eggs in William and Mary's basket -- they do receive over 11,000 applications and as an out of stater, it is more competitive for you. My daughter, an in stater, was denied ED, with similar grades but lower test scores than yours.

Have you thought of Williams? U of Vermont? I say U of Vermont because of your screen name! :-)

W&M is not a slave to numbers. They really look down on high SAT and low GPA. Same with Chicago and Yale. Why are you applying to these places anyway? Not exactly a fit for a self described slacker. Look at schools like Bucknell, Richmond, Furman, Lehigh. Good luck. Every matures at there own pace.
